    Default Keeping your head-out.

Saturday I played a PS 1983 person tourney and ended up 41st.

I played a really great game considering that I lost 500 chips in the first level.

I made some really good plays, working the table well.

I stayed pretty aggressive but a little tighter than usual because the table was also very aggressive.

    A few good plays:

Limp with 33, flop is Q22, I check it gets bet and called, and I check raise it.

Limp in with AQ with a lot of desperate short-stacks in the pot after raising 3 hands in a row and get to catch a short stack going all-in with AJ - I do the same thing against AT (AJ rivered a J though.

After spending most of the tourney in the top 10-20, I build up to 120,000 makeing me the CL at the table with 1k/3k blinds. I had just limp/check-raised all-in with 99 earlier, then called an all-in with JTs (good odds) and busted a short-stack, raised from the BB with JJ and took a pot ucontested.

It folds to me in the SB, I bet 12k with A5o. The BB comes over the top like he had done my last few raises. I have him covered by about 10k.

I think he would make this move with a lot of face cards so I push him all-in, he calls with AQ, and as the button said "what a moron".

One second of lost focus, not thinking about conserving my strong postion really hosed me. I would have still had about 33x the BB if I had folded.

I was able to fight my way back to 30k, but then folded AJs to a raise that would have tripled me up - and got no action on my other nice hands.

Any tricks to keeping focused in these huge tournaments?

was this tourney for play chips?
Ya i have trouble paying attention in SNG's for long periods of time too, Also that late in the game i'd suggest not to mix it up with chip leaders. your main objective should be to survive.. wait till you get to the final table to battle the chip leaders.

Man...I have trouble with staying power too, but I usually have 2 or 3 ring games going as well when I play in tourneys.

No it wasnt play money, it was a buck game, first was around $430.

Money doesnt matter though, i have the same problem in the 10+1s too.

Have somebody ghost you to keep your mind focused, I have always found that when I have an audience that can razz me later, I tend to shy away from dumb plays. Hence, on eo fhte reasons I asked for the chat room here. I know ghosting you on this one helped keep you in it.

    You were ghosting me man.

The problem is, no matter how badly I play, I know you have done worse.

Yes Yes, I admit, in a 350 man WSOP entry satellite on Bugsy's, i have finished 350th. Tried bluffing all 10k, over 4 streets, against a board of 222KA, with JTo, lost to A2s, first hand, UTG.
