reraise

you want to reraise enough to get a call if your holding a strong hand or you want to reraise to cut down ppls pot odds on hitting a drawing hand(thats depends on the amount of money in the pot). Theres really is no set limit though, just remember raise agressivley when you have the best of it and you'll be surprised how many loose calls you get..

Ill let Alex and others respond directly, but I personally hate re raising the min of what was just raised. I typically make it painful If I think im on top.
I might raise 3X or maybe even 4X depending on the player, my position, chip stacks and if I got any from the wife in the last week.

Most reraises are close to allin.
100 in pot each player has 1k
A bets 100
B raises to 400
A re-raises Why make it 700 when you only have 300 left? Even with closer to 2k a push wouldn't be that bad.
Just realized you either meant preflop or used the word reraise incorrectly.
If UTG makes it $2 in the .25/.5 game anything from $5-10 would probably be correct.“There's no sense in being precise when you don't even know what you're talking about.” - John von Neumann

1st why do you reraise...
To put more money in the pot, to take the pot right away on a bluff, to take the pot right away an avoid the FD to call?
I would say minimum reraise looks like a monster...
A very big reraise looks like a bluff or semi bluff...
and a 3 to 5 time the initial raise looks like a made hand odds cutter...
did'nt say it's automaticly that, but it looks like it.
What do you want your oponent to do? what's your table image? How do you think he will react to your reraise?
just my 2 cents.

i figured that most of the time I didnt know how much to reraise was when I had AK pf.
if some1 raise your bet while AK pf, would u push allin? with 20-30 times the bb I guess you would but what if you have more, like 60-100?
P.S. sorry for such a fishy question, I just sometimes felt I was losing money because ppl were folding or calling and then going allin after a flop that I missed.Last edited by tdq; 05-24-2005 at 04:06 PM.
