sorry if this has already been disussed. my question is when im playing out of postion, say the flop comes king 10 9 (2 spades). so there are multiple drawing hands. im holding ace king. i usually come out and bet near the pot on this kind of flop. 1 player behind me calls. turn is a blank, i bet 3/4 pot (maybe even pot size bet). For the record i play micro stakes, usually .10/.25 NLHE and PLO. so i see a lot of inexperienced players chasing draws with no understanding of pot odds. Obviously i dont mind this b/c over the long run it is +EV them calling with terrible pot odds. But in this particular hand i feel strongly that my opponent has a drawing hand. back to the hand..... the river comes 8 of spades/ or any other low spade (completing a possible straight draw and a flush draw). This is where i have difficulty. If my read is correct i believe my opponent made a flush so my top pair is not good. however maybe my opponent is calling me down with top pair and weaker kicker or something other that cannot beat my hand... im first to act and i dont want to seem like i assume my opponent has the flush and just check the river giving them the oppurtunity to take down the pot whether or not they have the flush. But on the other hand i feel like making a similar sized bet on the river when i feel my opponent hit a big hand and will re raise me and cause me to fold, just giving away extra $$.
so my question is what is the best play here? check the river/ bet the river and what size bet on the river?

If you feel villian was on a draw and will only bet said draw when it hits c/f river is fine. If you think that villian could call down w/ a weak K or even J10 or Q10 and would bet if you checked you could go for a 1/3rd pot blocker bet and fold to a raise.
By potting flop and Turn you are left with a river pot size bet w/ 100 bb effective stacks. Unless you villian is very loose and can't fold 2nd pair TPTK isnot the nutz in that spot. I am not saying don't bet flop & turn, but understand why you are doing it and have a plan as to what to do if blank hits or the As hits
Most villian that call down w/ weak made hands are happy to get to showdown for free when the draws hits the river
