Notice how business schools always have case study competitions to improve the quality of their students. I felt that this concept could be put to great use in poker, so this kicks off my first thread on case studies in poker.
I will put up a "case study" once every few days and ask what you the thread-reader would do. I will reveal what actually happened before I post the next case study. Hopefully we can all learn to play better poker with these case studies.
This first case study occured when I was playing a medium-sized tournament in Macau. The table was still full with 10 players.
I was then the small blind and the other player, "Dung" (don't laugh, he's a vietnamese like Scotty Nguyen) was the big blind. I was dealt a Ah Qs. 4 other players checked and the rest folded. I checked too, but Dung went "All in" with 3500 chips. Everybody started with 3000 chips.
What was interesting was that Dung had went all in the previous round too. For that previous round no one called his "All in". He snatched the blinds and casually revealed a pair of 9s.
Back to the current round. Again all the other players failed to called his "All in". Coincidentally, I had 3500 chips too. What would you do if you were me?

This is what the hand analysis is for. And I don't know...how often have you played with "dung"? lol. Like have you played him before this tournament?

Giving us the effective chip stacks is useless without the blinds. If it was 5/10 then instafold, if it was 300/600 then instacall.

Also, how do people check pre-flop?
