Say you were playing in a Stud 8b home game.
Limits were $4/$8 Bring-in is $2, ante is $1, there is no rake.
What additional hads would you play?
Unsuited razz hands? (2,5,7; 3,6,8)?
A-small suited with a broadway card?
What?

Well... I'm not a very good S8B players, but I'm profitable at low stakes, and I have a very good ROI with 10$ SNGs. I play these only when I'm boared to play Holdem... of to avoid a tilt!!!

752 with 2 suited and such I would play depending on dead cards, But I will usually add hands like Q2 6 suited and such that i would normally muck, a lot of cards will improve this hand on 4th street and you're getting great odds to take one off if you pick up an offsuit A, 3, 4, 5, 7 with 3 suited and 3 low cards. I still wouldn't play it with the Queen exposed though, tough to win uncontested if you hit a couple low cards and can scare people off.
I don't like playing any 8, and only 75 or better yes to 467, 567 but thats it I wouldn't put money in with 762, 76A, 763Last edited by Steve Ruddock; 05-20-2005 at 01:15 PM.

these hands rarely back into a high hand, so at best, AT BEST, you're shooting for 1/2 the pot.
If the games are so loose that these hands might possibly, again might, be playable they are loose enough to wait for great starters that have a lot more scoop potential.
A6 7 with a suited Ace, yes, pretty much any other 2 gapped 76 is a fold for me. of course if I'm the only player with a low card showing left it is a different story.Read my musings on poker and life at Online Poker Examiner, Poker Examiner, PokerNewsBoy.com, and My Poker Blog

So Steve, I am not sure from you post if there are specific hands you would add, is the 75x with two suited it?
How do you vary your game according to ante size?

I'm pretty much wasted right now, but with a high ante I'm trying to isolate with high hands that i normaly wouldn't play.
If everyone is still playing i play the same style but if It is possible to limit the field I'll do it with typical stud hands.
Holy shit I'm drunk
LOL
I'll post on this more tomorrow. Who knows what the hell I just told you guysRead my musings on poker and life at Online Poker Examiner, Poker Examiner, PokerNewsBoy.com, and My Poker Blog

OK sobered up now. The high ante is more of a factor if you catch bad on 4th street than what you can play on 3rd. I still want to start strong and don't change my requirements too much but I will take one off when I catch bad on 4th and it's only a single bet to me.
Although my drunken advice does also apply, but if it's still 4+ people to 4th street I pretty much stick to my normal requirementsRead my musings on poker and life at Online Poker Examiner, Poker Examiner, PokerNewsBoy.com, and My Poker Blog
