Hi everyone,
I just started playing Hold'em a few weeks back and it's really taken my interest. I've been reading the No Limit section of the book and have really noticed the difference his advice has had on my play. Previously I was a tight player apprehensive of high bets, even with good hands just in case a better hand was out there, however unlikely.
I find Brunson's style very aggressive and am not sure if I could ever play as he recommends, but I've found somewhat of a middle ground (well, more in his direction than I was previously anyways) and have really noticed how much it has helped my 'winnings' (I'm only playing for play money online at the moment so I'm not getting carried away lol!). The pots I win now are often much larger than they were previously.
Anyone else have any comments about his book and how it's affected their results?

Doyle Brunson's Super/System

I think his advice in the book is great for getting a grip on a basic tight/ aggressive style but I also think that his work is very outdated compared to some of the newer material out there.
Also play money is just not real poker. You're better off playing the absolute micro stakes games as they play a little more realisticlly even though NL2 is not too different from free poker.
So if you're taking the time to study poker, why not make a little money at the same time?
If I was you, I'd look into any book written by Ed Miller, he is a great player and really connects well with the low stakes and conveys lessons well in an easy to understand manor.
Good luck
