A nit is a term for an exceptionally tight player. This can relate to many aspects of the game, for instance I am a horrible bankroll nit.
Lots of good rakeback options at http://www.rakeguard.com/?raf=KRE8R

KRE8R probably has about seventy college funds in his NL5 roll.

In your case I was refering to the fact that you have very strict opening ranges. When you open only 10% of your available hands most people consider that nitty. It is not a derogetory term but a term used to describe a players still. just like some poeple are called tag's

My kin didn't struggle to survive in this country for you to use such harmful racial and religious stereotypes so loosely. You think twice before you let that evil slander leave your lips next time and remember what those so called "nits" have sacrificed to allow you to live freely.

Wait a minute... what is a nit?

    Nit

    Poker Glossary

    Also known as Rock.

A nit is a tight-passive player that avoids confrontations. Typically, the term nit is used when this type of passive player plays in a pot-limit or no-limit game. Nits tend to avoid big pots and do not like to gamble.

    See also Passive, Tight.

I remember my grandfather spinning tales of the early 20th century where all businesses carried the signs "no Nits need apply". They forced nits to live in a separate area of the city and traveled with the steerage on boats. Oh the plight of the nits.....

    Wait a minute...... that wasn't a nit.

Nits really do blow. You get too many of them in one game and the action goes to crap!
