i also arrived at the friends house where the game was played early one week and grabbed a chair, i hadnt even realised this was his regular seat. When i won the game he was seething and believed that had he been sitting in his usual seat it would have been him who won. I said sorry and swapped seats with him, when i won again he took a monumental strop and said he should have stayed in the same seat as it had got lucky for me.

oh and to respond to your title.
Play some sessions online and review the hand histories and try to put people on ranges. Invest in Pokertracker or holdem manager and learn what percentage of opening ranges equals what average hand distribution using pokerstove. Than translate that to how often your people are opening in a live game.
