Poop. I guessed the Ace was a scare card for them. I presume they had KK or QQ? The thing is, was I right to check the flop to try and let them catch up and fire the turn? Should I have just bet the flop anyway, or checked the turn, what?
Oh, and I agree that the minbet pf is fucking terrible. I was working in a unix window, the poker window popped up and I managed to misclick on the raise bar thus putting me in the panic zone, so I just clicked the standard raise button. Ordinarily I would have pushed the chump in for their last $4.

I think the min-raise pre-flop is kind of silly. If this opponent has QQ, KK, or AK they might just ship on you which is exactly what you want. If they don't have 1 of those premium hands you've given them a cheap look at a flop with a hand that is a little more disguised. Also, you've now given away the strength of your hand without getting much value for it. If your opponent misses altogether chances are they're going to C/F.
BUT
If your opponent has a hand like 88 and flops a set on you, now you're going to get stacked.
Of course that's not the way it went down and you flopped top set.

Raise to $2 pre-flop.
I can see viable arguments for both checking and betting the flop.
When you bet the turn make it like 2/3 pot at least.

At this level I highly doubt they're just calling with QQ - KK. I'm sure he just had some JT sooted type hand. Better to get the money in ahead though. For the record this is also dependent on your image. If you're cont. betting most flops and then you check this one and bet small it may scream big hand to someone who is paying attention. Just my two cents.

At NL10 this is a very simple:
1. Raise more preflop.
2. Fire the flop.
Any A that called your 3 bet is almost definitely calling a flop bet as well. If it is KK or QQ they arent coming along anyway and you dont want some faggot to catch up to a flush without paying.Lots of good rakeback options at http://www.rakeguard.com/?raf=KRE8R
KRE8R probably has about seventy college funds in his NL5 roll.
