Default AA at final table, what would you have done?

ok, down to last 5 players in a 740 person 150+12 multi on PartyPoker last night. 740k chips in play, I'm in 4th with 80k chips (see below for hand history)

    Blinds are 4000/8000

I get AA under the gun...

Everyone being pretty tight, most of the last few hands there's been a push with everyone folding...

I decide to go for the slow play, I call, 2 guys fold, SB calls, BB checks, was hoping for a raise pre flop, but no dice...

Flop comes 55Q, couple of hearts, SB checks, BB checks, I go for a min bet, 8000, SB raises to 29,500, I don't think very long, I come over the top, all in...

He turns Q4 spades, I've got him!

Turn, 10 of whatever, no help

Queen on the river, hello 5th place, doh!

HOW WOULD YOU ALL HAVE PLAYED IT???

    Thanks!

You played it fine( knowing your opponent I guess), you milked your opponent, although he got you.

This is why I don't like sit and go : a bad beat at the worst moment occure, the downside are x10 badder.

    Wasn't a SNG, was a 740 peep MTT.

Shoulda raised PF. You only have 10 bb's in your stack. NOT a time to get cute. At least a min raise to spur action and to get the weird uncoordinated hands out of the pot. I'd probably had made it 16-24k to go. Of course I would have been doing this every other hand so they didn't see anything different here.

The min bet on the flop is weak, but not for the size of the bet, i like the 'slow' play there. But when he raises, you really can't be sure if hes got a legit hand (ie a 5) or not, since your bet has not forced him to define his hand. He could be just bullying. But the reraise clsoes that door quite nicely. BUT, he is pretty much committed to call with TP. Which, in hindisght, is a bad thing, but thats resulkts oriented.

I like a bet PF, a smallish one, then a sizable bet on the flop to take the pot as is. Basically its a Stop and Go. But you can't get too cute with it.

I think because I hadn't had a good hand in a while or played one, that I wanted to get some action with the aces, wanted to maximize return on them, I guess I feared everyone folding if I threw out a 3X BB raise (first because everyone was playing tight in general, 2nd, because I hadn't played a hand in quite a while, so they probably had me pegged for extra tight)

Your other points are certainly valid, thanks!

I did get too cute, and I paid for it, always seems to work out that way doesn't it?

    on the other hand...

can't one argue that i laid a very nice trap and nearly got what i wanted?

regardless of what happened prior, i was looking pretty good up until the river...

i agree it's not just about winning one hand, it's about winning the tourney, but i thought it was an acceptable risk to take to get me to 2nd or 3rd in chips...

Pushing preflop wouldn't be a terrible play. Also 20k to go with the general idea of getting it all in on all but hte most danegerous of flops would be fine.

all in pre flop seems bad to me, don't i want action with my aces in this situation???

or is the hope that someone with a someone decent hand will think i'm trying to buy the blinds and call (remember i was under the gun)

Given You were deep into the money (nice finsh BTW), really any play except folding is a good one.

    I like you play.

This is really a pointless post that should have been put in the river rat section, you did just what you wanted to do and go unlucky.

I hope it goes better next time.

Minimum raise at least to push the BB out... No problem if you take the blinds right away, its 15% of your stack. Pretty nice...
