I don't know why people make this so tough on themselves. $20 is still a small amount of money but at least gives you a shot. Also turning $20 into $50,000 would still be super impressive!

Stick $20 on FTP or Stars, play the HU $2 SNG's as they are almost impossible to lose if you have a clue about playing poker then grind your way up.

    Food for thought ?

It's absolutely possible. I started with $167 playing $10 NL which gave me about 17 buy-ins so you could have 20 buy-ins at $.10 NL. It will probably take you a long time though

Possible in theory? Yes. As a goal: Almost certainly impossible.
    Goals should:

    a) have a timeline
    b) be measurable (in your case it is)
    c) ambitious, but not overly ambitious
    d) broken down into smaller chunks

    So:

Making it from $2 to $100 in a week or two is perfectly reasonable.
Making it from $100 to $1000 in a month or two is ambitious but reasonable.

    And so forth.

    Provided:

    a) You are playing good

    b) have a stoic attitude towards losses and losing streaks

    c) do your homework and analyze your sessions

    d) have rock hard disciplne

    e) have read and understood the 10 or so most important books
on whatever game you play AND understood it

    f) use a very good HUD

    g) play A LOT of tournaments

    Good Luck!
