Some good advice here, but just a couple of questions. Is it advisable to build your stack first by only raising very strong hands to begin with and by selectively seeing cheap flops or just begin raising from the word go. Also when you put a cbet out on a missed flop, and your opponent calls, what is generally the strategy on the turn.

These question are far too broad and the answers to them typically lie in the game you're at, but I'll take a stab anyways.

First you ask about raising early in a session. I would say always bump your premium hands. The only time you want to get tricky and limp a big hand is if you have poor position or you're at an aggressive table and you're hoping to 3 bet someone pre-flop. This play usually gives away the stregnth of your hand though.

Secondly you ask about continuation betting and what to do should you be called. If you have position you keep the upper hand in this situation, but if out of position now you're in a tough spot on the turn. You'll need to do your best to put your opponent on a hand and then go from there. Most times I'll shut it down with a hand like AK that bricks on a dry board if my opponent can call 1 bet.

you don't "build your stack" in a cash game so to speak, you take whatever edge you can get, and your strategy should not be a function of how long you've been at the table.

Yeah i should have pointed out i was talking about tournament rather than cash games as in a cash game you can jut re-load. But obviously raising preflop in either MTT or STT is an important part of the game. And as i play all types of game i was just wondering as sometimes raising in a freezeout and missing can be extremely bad.

    Cool Raising versus limping in...

You bring up an excellent point. My only question would be if you are in early position with a monster hand (A-A or K-K, for instance) in a six handed game. If you raise three times the big blind, you will likely win just the blinds. While you can always get beat with these hands, you enjoy such an advantage pre-flop, does it make sense - long term - to scare away callers at the risk of simply raking the blinds?

    Not 100% sure what you're saying/ asking?

Are you asking if limping in with big hands is a good idea?
