Default blind stealing / blind defending

I was wondering whats your guys takes on effective blind stealing and pot defending, like when to do etc...
If I'm on the button or close to it and everyone folds to me should I automatically put in a raise regardless andhope to take it right there? etc..

Also when should I defend the pot if the person on the button raises... If i have an Ace? What types of hands.

5/10 LHE... I just realized that i never defend and rarely try to pick up blinds and am missing a big part of potential profitability here..

I'll leave more answers up to players more familiar with the 5/10 level (Live or online?), but any time in the Button or CO, and its folded to me, If I have a hand that I would consider limping with in a multiway unraised pot, I raise to steal. Same with defense, If I would limp, I reraise.

This is very player dependent. Against myself, thats what I would do. Against fish or LAP's, my stealing requirments tightens up, and my defense loosens up, but not by much. Against rocks, I steal with just about anything, but defend with premium.

If it's folded to you in the cutoff or button you should never limp in, either raise or fold. you raise to possibly win the blinds uncontested and you have position and have shown strength in a heads up pot. You raise good hands like AA in this spot because most people assume you are stealing and like to defend.

in a 5/10 LHE game I would open raise from late position with, A8 or higher, any pair, 78s or higher, or any 2 cards Ten and up.

Blind defense is more situational and geared toward the individual opponent.
