    Default My friends home game.

Hey. I recently started going to my friends weekly game.
My first time was a few days ago. The buy in is 5 dollars and
they play a single table tournament starting with 10 players and
50 chips each. Blinds go up every 10 minutes.

We played 3 games that night I lost all 3.
2nd place gets their buy in back, winner takes everything else.

About the players they are all extremely loose and weak players.
I'm sure with my minimal experience playing online and reading poker
books that I know more and have more experience. So I was playing
extremely tight-aggressive. Also this was my very first live game
    experience.

These players constantly limp. They dont always raise with their
premium hands in pots with lots of limpers. Not cause they are trying
to get sneaky, they just don't know better. So it's hard to detect
their big hands sometimes. Alot of them call HUGE bets on draws.

One in particular, the host, is a maniac. He seems to raise with his
weak hands and gets sneaky with his good hands. He actually seems to be the best player there. Everyone else is a donkey/calling station.
They like to bet alot, theres not alot of checking that happens.
And they bet big too. So the pot odds for drawing is bearly ever
    there.

Game 1: I got busted out by the biggest donkey at the table. He would
make really bad moves that worked out sometimes and was ranting about
how poker is 100 percent luck. I don't remember what got me all in preflop
but I ended up pushing with QJ and he called with 6 3 even tho he didnt
have a small stack and he made 2 pair.

Game 2: In the second game I made it to third, the maniac I mentioned
was there and a pure fish. The maniac was pushing all in every hand
and I eventually called him with A5o. I know I had him beat he was
holding K8o. But made a king on the river and he was big stack so I
    got busted out again.

Game 3: Got busted out by the same donkey from game 1. I called from the small blind he was the only other one in the pot. On the flop I made a pair he checked I bet it to cut his drawing odds, he called anyway and drew a flush. I ended up pushing all in on him cause i don't think I had to many chips left and he called and showed me the flush he made on the turn. On the flop he had nothing just the flush draw.

Umm... these are all the details I can think of hopefully it's enough
for some guidance from you guys. Please help!

i would just play really tight and wait for my hands. play in position so you can dictate a lot of the play. Value bet your strong hands, and you can afford to bet small and check when you have average hands as these players won't be raising you off pots, just wondering if you played 3 games of 10 people in a night then whats the structure, u start with 50 chips and the blinds are? , even if you start at 1/2 blinds you still only have 25BB's and that does'nt leave muchplay, bringing luck and aggression more into it.

yeah well that's pretty bad. Like that there is no room for much play at all, online sit and go's start at like 10/20 with a starting stack of 1500, i would not recommend That as it will take ages in live play. You seem to have basic knowledge of the game, but your not helping yourself in this luck fest. At my home games we used to start with 2500 each and start the blinds at 15/30 and raise the blinds every 10 minutes this will take a couple of hours but will be a lot more enjoyable and profitable for your game.

It's not my game so a restructure isnt really an option.

It's how seriously you take your poker if your just playing for fun with your friends its fine. but if your trying to make money this is the wrong game to play in. maybe you could just mention a restructure and see how people respond?

Well I'm trying to make money but not particularly in this game. Since I am drawn both by the social aspect of playing with friends, and the possible aspect of winning. Since I am going to go there and play anyway, Im just looking for any advice to maximize my results whether this is a more luck based structure or not.

id just limp in early on try make a big hand without investing to much. if i get a big hand im just shoving it in. its pretty basic with this structure. yeah fair enough if you enjoy it for a small cost then it's all good.
