Post Vs a loose agressive manic

The villain was a absolute manic after about a hour's play id say he raises OTB 90% of the time so when i pick up A7 i just decided to flat it in the BB and see what materializes. Also in by notes when he is bet into OTB he raises almost every time, He cant have the goods all the time right? Here for some reason i put him on nothing, And once he re raises i decided to bump it up again, expecting him to fold, by the time he goes all in im pot commited ( bad play on my part i think i should of shoved) anyway the rest is history and i take it down. thoughts?

A7o is probably ahead of his button raising range, but you're going to be c/f so many flops I'd probably just fold it preflop. If he's raising 90% of Buttons, I'd just widen my 3betting range preflop rather than play passively with A7o and flat call OoP.

As played, 3betting the flop with this hand turns your hand into a bluff really, doesn't it? All his air folds out when you 3bet, and overpairs would 4bet you/flat and you valuetown yourself. It just so happens that he had one of the few hands you beat.

Since you say he's very laggy, I might flat here and see if he barrels with his airy hands one more time.

Ok here's my thought and how I would play the hand.

Firstly the guy is a maniac so to play the player as it were you need to think about the best way to take advantage of HIS tendancies.

Maniac/bully types love to jump all over weakness but normally back down to real signs of aggression/strength back. You see they (on the whole) seem to have a good grasp of how to play but get off on running people over. So knowing this, I slow play my strong hands against them as there is more value in them bluffing off chips than there is putting pressure on them because we know that they play such a wide range, they'll not be able to stand too much heat.

So now to your exact situation. You have a weak ace and you're out of position against a player that will put pressure on you. This isn't a great proposition as you'll miss the flop a lot and be forced to check/fold plus the times you hit and actualy do get value towned etc. Playing OOP is just bad even against a fish so to make life easier, if you do think you're ahead of his range, I'd just 3 bet pre flop and look to take the hand down there and then.
