OK, so I'm really not liking "turbo" tournaments, because it seems you just need extreme aggression and a rabbit's foot to get anywhere, but I'm curious about what people think about Freezouts and Buyin tournaments? As far as I can make out the buyins cost a lot because the donks go mental with shit hands and feed the chips to the good players who get the premium hands early on, and so I end up just waiting and waiting and then get my pocket aces busted by some arsehole who calls all-in with 42o. People play tighter in freezouts and so it's easier to sit and wait. Am I missing a trick, or should I stick to freezouts?

Crundy...the way you talk about poker always belies a desire to know what to do...but usually what to do as a rule. Really, there's no trick, no rule. You just have to adapt to situations. You really just need to look at table dynamics...there's no one way to win a rebuy, but I'd never play one if you don't have the bankroll to make guaranteeing that you make it to the break feasible.

Oh I'm not asking for a definitive boolean response on this one. I was just curious about how people felt about the two types.

My edge comes later in a tourneys, turbos are the game for me. The opening stages are also fairly dull by comparison.

I play much like a ring game, super tight in EP looser in LP not stacking off with < TPTK. Tight I guess. You have to realise that you will have to take big risks once the ante's kick in and you will barely make it past the ante's very often.

If you ever want me to sweat you in a tourney, let me know.
