Ok so heres the story, I used to have no bankroll management, id have a friend send me $50 or $100 and play 2/4 or 5/10 and hopefully win a couple hundred dollars. I was lucky enough to win/cash high in a few multitables to come out really high(+5000 so far) But most of my winnings are from multitables and my losses are from ring games. So After losing $200 at 5/10 i begged a friend to send me $40 more dollars and promised myself i was going to be smart with it this time. I started off playing $5 sngs and have worked up my $40 to $205(should be more but i have lost like $40 in multitables)
I have played 81 $5 sngs in less than 4 days and am glad what I have done with myself and my bankroll.
So with this information i have a few questions:
1. Is it time to move up to $10 sngs with a $200 BR?
2. Is my ROI (46%) high enough/good enough to make money at $5 sngs?
3. How many sngs does it take to get a really good idea of what your ROI really is
4. I have not cashed in 8 or 9 straight multitables. Is this a normal drought a good player could have or should i stop playing them ( i used to do a lot better and cashing really high/frequently)
5. Is my SNG play hurting my MTT play or what do you think could be my problem?
THANKS FOR ALL THE HELP
GUPPIE

Use Excel and plug in your Profits and losses into a spreadsheer to find your Satandard Deviation of these wins, then find your WinRate for them, Using your ROI of 46%, your win rate should be somwhere around $2.50. Using the equation I posted in a parallel thread, you can find your minimum safe BR for your play.
ROI is a record of past historical results. SO your ROI after one event is jsut as true as your ROI after 1,000. You do need to have a large number of events to find an expected win rate based on past ROI for it to be accurate.
If your ROI is (+) it will always be +EV to play that game, since you have historically made money on them. Maintaining a consistent .1% ROI will eventually make millions if you play enough games.
MTT and SNG are similar enough beasts that untrained people approach them the same way. They are different enough that they require two different schools of thought. Not cashing in 8 or 9 or even 20 MTT's is normal. Its called variance. Their larger payout structure accounts for the long term of non-cashes you will encounter. SNG's usually pay 27%-33% of the field, while MTT"s usually pay 6%-12%. Expect long droughts in MTT's. Maybe you already used up all your Final table showings that Lady Variance has alloted you for this lifetime (j/k).Marm is back, maybe. Been off for 3 years. Rusty as Hell.
Luck is a Residue of Design.

Your ROI for SnG is healthy

And I would say that SnG and MTT strategies are very different and you need to differentiate your play to be successful.
In fact I believe that MTTs require a number of different strategies at various stages, including several shifts in gear once you reach the cash (and all depending on your relative stack size) at various points and in some circumstances the strategy for an MTT may coincide with your SnG strategy but probably not for long.
I cash in about 1 in 3 MTTs and play both tighter and looser than in SnGs in any given tournament. But then again your SnG ROI is better than mine

I think it has more to do with comfort, move up, give a few a try, if you find yourself drop to below 150 or so, move back down.
Personally, I never felt like i needed more than $55-$65 to play $5 SnGs.
When I started playing on Party, I always withdrew when i hit 110 or so, I figured 9-10 buy-ins was plenty. Not sure if that is statistically sound, but it kept me from tilting off too much.
