How many big bets should u win in a NL game to call it an average winning day. What is the usual target to increase bankroll. I buy in for a 100bb and I'm happy leaving with 200bb. Is that about right?

My goal in life is 4bb/100 hands. I figure if I can achieve that consistently I can live off poker by the time I hit 1/2NL.
So far pretty achievable, but I have along ways to go before I get to NL200 so who knows.

4bb/100 is a very good winrate. Don't target money won per day, there are too many swings for your how much you make in day to be conisitant.
Maximum winrate should be bigger at 6max then FR.
Just as an example of how hard your winrate is to gauge. I am 73BB/100 at NL100, (tiny sample).
My main sample size is NL25FR with a winrate of 4.9BB/100.
I am neerer 2BB/100 at NL50.
Just aim to play good poker.

My winrate over the last 30,000 hands at 25nl 6max is close to 2bb/100 & my winrate over the last 9000 hands at 25nl 6max is around 12bb/100. Some days I walk away down 2 buyins and some days I walk away up 4. Thinking in terms of buyins is incorrect, because this will most likely lead to you chasing your losses and going busto.
The other thing to realize is that your winrate should change as you grow and improve as a poker player. The reason I split my bb/100 is because the last 9000 hands are 1) at a softer site where I am one of the top tier players at my level. 2) When I finished up my coaching package and started making some head way on fixing my biggest leaks.
Like fish says just focus on playing good poker and the money will flow your way

at 2/4+, if u can do 5ptbb/100 or more over a sample of 300k+ hands then your the best at your game.
4-5ptbb/100 and your in the top 10 regs of your game.
3-4ptbb/100 and your in the top 20 regs.
2-3ptbb/100 and your in the top 40 regs.Last edited by Eclipse86; 05-10-2009 at 04:34 AM.

Win Rate
I figure it cost about $20 an hr to play 1-2NL Holdem at a casino. Some places do a time rake and pot rake. So in order to win 4-5BB's in a 100 hands, I would think that you would also have to cover the seat rent, folded blinds and so forth, feel me? I usually play 1-2NL and buy in for a min of $200.00, live games. I like to play for at least 5 hr or more most of the time. If I won on average of 5 bbs every 2 hrs, profit on top, and played for an 8 hr session. You say that an average win would be $80 and I would cash out for $280.00?

You mind explaining why that is Eclipse? I play exclusively on FTP at the moment and am considering the move across.

He my know more about the win rate part of it, but a lot of people have told me horrible stories about FullTilt Poker. I have heard many many people say that they have seen pots awarded to inferior hands. I have never seen it happen, something for sure is going on. I think that there is too much unknown things about internet people that throws people off, especially if they lose.
