boss said to use a new topic so yea
it's a bit of a comprehensive question
my confusion with the ssh chapter is in the partial outs and how backdoor draws are 1.5 outs each or something, and I don't know whether you have to take implied odds into account etc
say you got![]()
![]()
flop is![]()
![]()
![]()
backdoor straight and flush draw possible
and if overcards come it can help your redraw, so denies ppl with better current hands
so what are the things you have to consider? and how to you calculate all the outs and implied odds when you think whether to call or whatever?
and are you meant to calculate the hidden outs as well that ties the hand? like i dunno if you think someone got QT and KK or AA comes up

you have the best hand. no need to count outs here
depending on what their hand is (if you are behind) is how you would count themLast edited by Jack King off; 05-14-2005 at 04:09 AM.

Of course it is useful, if you don't know the full potential of your hand then you don't know how to play it properly. Of course, it is only for the flop, you either pick up a draw and gain outs on the turn, or you miss.

Implied odds aren't as big of a factor in limit, I don't include them - it makes up for any error I may make in haste, and also makes up for rake.
Reread the book section on counting outs, and do all the questions, it will make more sense.

I did some of the math on this a while ago, and back door Flush draws and backdoor OESD (You have 3 consecutive cards to a straight and the turn would give you the OESD) each are worth about 4%, but with turn betting that reduces it to about 2%, for about 1 out each. When i did the math with ISSD's, they really didnt amount to much, so you really shouldnt count them as an out.
In this example, lets assume we know were up against
, so we dont have the best hand right now.
We now have the
For outs, and two backdoor draws, for one out each, for a total of 5 outs, at 2% each, thats 10%, 9-1. if you KNOW the other player has AQ here, then you need to be getting at least 9-1 on the flop bet to call.
Lets say were up against AA though. No we got 3 j's, 2 q's, and the backdopors again. thats 7 outs, 14%, 6-1.Marm is back, maybe. Been off for 3 years. Rusty as Hell.
Luck is a Residue of Design.

Ed counts them as 1.5 outs usually, but I like to use one, makes it easier.
