I get the feeling a lot of you guys are pretty good at playing lots of tables at once and I'm really curious about how you make it work. Personally I can play maybe 2 x 6 player turbo tables at once, and if one table drops down to 4 players for a bit it all gets too much for me. Maybe it has something to do with my LAGish style of play which constantly leaves me exposed to a lot of risk and with tough decisions to make? But I'd like to hear thoughts on the following questions from anyone who can play maybe 5+ tables at a time profitably:
a) Is it necessary to play really tight?
b) Can you reproduce something close to your 1 table profit rate on many tables at once or is it a matter of suffering a substantial reduction in profit rate per table for a slight improvement in overall profit per hour?
c) Does multi tabling force you into a more ABC style of poker or can you still make complex plays and well thought out decisions?
Thanks in advance.

A) no
b) it is more like a substantial increase on 1 table profit for a substantial improvement on hourly rate since if I played 1 table I would play every ahnd and be a donk due to boredom.
c) maybe if you play 16 you are forced into ABC style. playing 4 6max or 8 full ring I think you can comfortbaly make optimal decisisons still. The more experienced you get, the more decisisons become "ABC". By that I mean tha you dont have to think about them. Eventually you will just be able to say ah so a player playing these stats, with this history with me, in this situation, made a bet this amount on this board therefore make action xxx.Best Current Ongame Deal.

It reduces my player depedent reads so I find it works far better at FR than 6max (8 tabling). A HUD is close to vital if playing >6.
I do find I play more ABC as I don't notice that a player is c/r bluffing the river and never check raising the the goods etc. If they play against the normal where c/r is the nuts then it is hard to pick up on when playing a lot of tables.
Being forced to play more streight forward however can be an advantage if you tend to out think your self.
As Wota says it's all about making as many of the decisions "standard" as possible so you know what to do if you get 4bet by a 10/8 with QQ and don't have to use all of the timer.

Interesting. I used to be a real nit and I'd bore myself into losing poker. I ended up turning my losses around with a pretty lagtarded 30/15 game which I'm now getting away from again. Maybe I should have just opened up a few more tables and played a bit smarter in the 1st place!

30/15 is not LAG, its just bad. Lag would be more like 30/27.

I play a lot of stuff. NL25 FR is the game I have most volume at as I 8 table.
I play mostly NL50 6max and FR these days but am far from great at either of them. Initially made the mistake of mixing my play up too much against them. Don't convince yourself they have nothing too often just because they raise they open the first 3 orbit buttons. (Unless its me >.>)
Also play NL25 PLO, 12$ tournements and 22$ HU.

I make money at PLO, I am really bad at PLO.
The problem with playing 30/15 is the oposition is dictating the play a bit for you and you are getting very few preflop folds. It also cuts down your abillity to continuation bet which is a big part of playing LAG.
Fair enough if you had a big enough edge post flop to play most hands.
