situation: 10 sng, 8 left
I have AA
xshark in front of me (knows me, i think, he would not call only reraise me)
and small and big blind (50/100)
i know the shark will not call me
so normally i will bet 300
i did, and all folded
i am thinking i should have bet only 200
and maybe small or big blind would have stayed

if they all just always fold just keep raising 300 with any two cards

If they fold to 2/3 of opens then they are going to fold to 2/3 of opens when you have aces too. The good thing is you stack them 1/3 of the time if they RR.
Raising to 200 is bad because it likely still gets a lot of folds (wierdly) and people get odds to draw to thier two pair.

This is far too generalised though.
1.What are the stack sizes?? Who has what stack in relation to your position (ie is there a short stack to your left who might reraise you all in, in desperation if you raise to just 225 or something?)
2. How had the tournament been playing? Ok we know about the shark, great, but what about the other players left.
3. Do you have any stats on any of the players? If not, why not?!
And more questions.... But in short pretty much what Piv and Bonch said.

HERO balance="$1915.00" AA
SHARK balance="$1485.00"
UNKNOWN1 balance="$1235.00" small blind 50
UNKNOWN2 balance="$2610.00" big blind 100
starting stack was 1500, 10 player sng (8 are left)
I did not have any notes on the other two players yet. This was Hand 33 in the SNG. They were not really fishy I guess, medium player probably, maybe more or less worse or more or less better, I haven't found out yet.Last edited by telpenov; 03-18-2009 at 01:07 PM.

I have the same problem, and this is at microlimits. I'll try and find the hand histories tonight. It was basically I raise 3BB, eveyone folds. Next time (a while later) I raise 3BB, two callers. Flop has some high cards, so I bet (not too hard), everyone folds. Very next hand I get AA again, and this time I just call (I know, but I got fed up), minbet on the flop, everyone folds. What the hell?

I would not call my case a problem.
I am just asking if it would have been smarter maybe to raise only 250 or 200. Probability of one Person staying might have been higher. On the other hand, the probability of two people calling also being higher.

Better to win a small pot than to lose a big one. You don't win at poker by waiting for AA and hoping to stack someone... if people are folding every time you raise, that's a good thing, as 22Fish says... you should then be raising a wider range and profiting by picking up the blinds and limps. When you start getting called more often, then you tighten up again.

People like you said are presuming because they have AA they are entitled to someone elses stack. I have no idea why this is so it just doens't make any sense. At the begginging of a tourney when people are calling with any two I expect to make a fair chunk but even when it gets to four handed in the SnG and people are folding every hand to make the money you still open you AA to 2.7x like every other hand and hope they put you in.
A few things to think about from my stats : I average 5BB per time I get aces 5! thats 50c at NL10, about as much as you would get taking the blinds three times.
A similar thing is true of tournements, I have yet to limp aces. I win 3.41BB each time I have aces on average, which seems rubbish. You could steal the blinds twice once the ante's kick in and make more than this. Aces do not garentee you gaining chips.
Winning the blinds 2/3 attempts, however, will.
(these stats don't seems to add up quite but they make the point)
