No one deleting the spam?I came 4th yesterday, 3 bad beats including my last all-in I feel like such a n00b, because I actually pokerclacked when I made trips. Luckily I don't think any of the other players have read Caro.

You pub game just reminds me so much of my home game at times. As the most patient player out of all of my friends and the only one that knows anything about poker I have been paid with quads/fullhouses/straights so many times my middle pair/2pair etc that it's unreal. If I'm in a pot that gets to showdown, 9/10 I win just because I can read them near perfectly and play a decent tight game.

Difference is we play 30min blind levels with 100bbs to start instead of 50.

LOL i used to play a similar home game at a neighbours house every Friday. They all thought they were really good players and would brag about how good they were. Well just before Christmas i was effectively barred. I turned up to play as usual on a Friday and my neighbour looked really awkward, the conversation went something like this. "Erm, listen mate, you know i like you and that its just that, well some of the lads think its a bit unfair that you win every week so you cant play anymore". Apparently before i turned up it sort of cycled who was going to win i suppose whoever got the best cards on the night was lucky enough to win. Shame really, it was a gauranteed source of income.

So what's the best play then? The trouble I have is with pre-flop raising. Lets say I'm OTB, 8 people on the table, 2 fold, 3 limpers. If I raise to 2xBB then most people call, so that doesn't knock anyone out of the hand and I tend to lose against someone with crap who connects on the flop. If I raise 3xBB or more then the next person will go all in. Fine if I have a premium starting hand, but I don't get many in these games because there are very few hands per hour. Also, the donk going all in will have A7 or K5 or something else shit which they ALWAYS seem to connect with. It's a pain in the arse!

People always say these are the sort of of games you want as your opposition are so soft, but the truth is i find a tight game easier to beat because there arent so many donks with the "any two cards can win" attitude and your pre flop raises are respected. Maybe the only way to beat them is tighten right up and when you hit the flop hard really punish them for playing crap cards, remember you dont have to win every pot to win the game, just maximise your wins and cut back on the losses. If that fails join a casino and have a proper game lol.

Move up to where they respect your raises imo.

I first started playing tight, but there are two problems with that:
    1) Because the blinds go up far too often you get your stack drained with no action quite quickly
    2) When you do get AA, you always seem to lose against someone holding T7 (yes, that happened to me).
Speaking of (2), someone won the other day with AA, and it was hailed as a great victory. You know why? Because it was the FIRST TIME TO EVER HAPPEN!!
