coke cola makes me smarter. i buy two 24's of it for exam time and drink it while studying and then chug it right before an exam, works like a charm.

i have yet to adequately test it on poker

    They are no good.
Most of them rely on caffiene which is addictive and does the body harm long term. They give you a short high followed by a come down so aren't generally much good.

The correct way to use an energy drink is to abstain totally from caffeine for 1-2 weeks prior to the event when you are playing. Then to drink the enegry drink as you get tired rather than caning them as soon as you start. This will provide short term improvement in focus.

Or take my advice and cycle your Red Bul intake as follows:

Hmm ill try red bull tonght to give me focus
Then have 2-3 cans within next week
Slowly up to 1 can a day
Then hit 2-3 cans a day
Drink 4-5 cans within a day and say fuck I am addicted again and better stop
    REPEAT

Well, it looks like energy drinks is the most popular. I cringe every time I hear someone, whether a student or a poker player, say that they rely on energy drinks. From a physiological standpoint, they don't make sense for poker or any other situation that requires a long duration of energy. I've tried all of them. They all have provided me with that short burst of energy, but fell short for what i was looking for. It looks like I'll write an article about that.
