i used to be that guy buying in for 80 on a 200 dollar table. It was really cause i was never comfortable with sitting with a big stack. But i paid because of it. When you sit down small. you NEED a hand to showdown. Theres no inbetween if your looking to make money

I experimented with 75bb and that seemed to work well.

    Thoughts?

Try doing 50bbs buyins, and stay at the table even after u double, triple, quadruple up, etc.

This will allow u to minimize errors with TPTK type hands, as your opponents wont be able to call that profitably when ur raising TT+ and have overpair on the board or AK/AQ/AJ and flop TPTK, while allowing you room to manuvoeur once u double up.

50BBing will also still allow you to setmine from people who raise 4 or less BBs pf. However won't allow you much room to do any loose calls with sc's and whatnot.

Also, the disadvantages of 50BBing is that you can't really double barrel without commiting yourself to the hand and 3 bet stealing gets very very awkward.

FWIW I used to use a 50BB buyin strategy when I was running up the ranks all the way up to 10/20 nl even and found it to be pretty successful. Basically it makes poker a little bit simpler, reduces variance and allows you to play more tables, which is great if ur trying to build a roll from bonus whoring.

However, as other people have said, you should look to eventually learning deepstack play as this is ultimately where you make the most money. Theres nothing like sitting 3 buyins deep with position on a fish that is also 3 buyins deep, and taking him for a 6 buyin pot.

Not if all fish have bought in half-stacked or less. It's usually the better players who sit there with 100-300bbs.

I recommend taking down the Sunday Million once or twice...then you can buyin for any amount and it won't really matter. Hope this helps!

I think you are just making it harder for yourself if you buy in for less than the full amount. I do think there is some merit to buying in for less if you don't feel comfortable buying in for the full amount at your table. I think that if you are comfortable sitting with $75 at a $100NL table then go for it. There is no statistical advantage to buying in for less than the full amount, but if you're more comfortable then go for it. Just so long as you don't buy in for so much less that you end up hurting yourself (buying in for $20 at the $100NL table would not be smart IMO).
