Default How could I have played it different?

It's a multitable tourney at Partypoker last night. It's a $109 buyin and it's out of 470 players. First prize is $11,750. It's down to 14 players and I have about 25,900 in front of me. I am 10th in chips but if I were to double up it would move me to 4th because the size of the stacks are all pretty close. The blinds are 4,000 and 2,000. I am on the button and everyone folds to me. I have K9s. The 6k of the blinds is about 25% of my stack, so I move allin and hope that the blinds both fold. SB folds and the BB thinks about it forever. I have him outchiped by about 3,000. He finally calls and turns over K-10, ouch. I don't improve and that cripples me. The board was 653 2 J. I end up coming in 14th which only paid $399.50

So, looking back if I would of raised it to 8,000 he would of called. But when the flop came 653, he would of most likely checked and then I would of moved allin and he would of folded. That would of put me at 37,900 and in good shape to take the $11,750. He would only have 8k in there on the flop which leaves him with about 15k, so he would not be priced in to call.
Do you all agree?
Enrique

Those are always the big what if's.

I made a move similar to your second choice, and ended up getting called down by 92s that paired twos.

If you have the chips, it is probably best to make a standard raise. Of course, they may figure you for a steal and come over the top of you.

Off-topic, FTP has $50k 100+9 tournys that usually only get 350-400 people, so there is a good overlay.

Sorry, they have them regularly, don't know the schedule. Seemed like it was daily last time I was on.

It's a risk to put it all on the line for the blinds which are unlikely on their own to improve your chances of winning much.

I go in to hibernation from 20th-10th in MTTs and wake up with 8 left.

I'd either raise 2-3x BB or fold it.

The second option gives you a lot more opportunity to outplay your opponent and hopefully you would have a decent line on him at this point of a MTT. However he will also probably have a decent line on your game, so anything that was part of a pattern on your part (all-in semi-steals, pushing missed flops) is possibly going to get called.
