Default How To Put Someone on a Set

If this has never been a thread here, I'd love to get everyone's input.

I have gotten decent at putting my opponent on a hand. I can lay down a monster. I may even lay down hands that are winners.

I can never put someone on a made-set. THIS, and this alone, has been the end to many great runs.

Can anyone put their opponent on a made-set? Would this not be a good "gut feeling" to have (profitability wise)? Do any pros extensively write on this topic?

    I'd be grateful for help.

When someone who you dont think bluffs much check-raises the dryest flop ever eg A72r he likely has a set.

you can't ever squarely put someone on a set but you can heavily weight their range towards it. like when i'm holding 44 on a T64 flop and i've just been 4bet shoved 200bb deep, his hand is pretty face up while i vomit and call.

I do believe that sets are the most difficult hand to pick up. Especially if it happens in the later stages of the hand (turn, river) I have fallen victim to sneaky sets. But after reading these posts, i agree. not all the time but a lot of the time if you are check raised on the flop it means they've flopped a big hand top 2 pair or a set. Or they're just plain bluffing. Use you're judgment to decide.
