Default Heads Up play

Hey guys,

My poker game suffers when down to the final 3 and hu. Basically I have a huge amount of 3rd place finishes, some 2nd place and on rare occassions I take first but usually comes from a good run of cards. Whats the best way to practice heads up, I've tried playing the micro limits up to the $5 heads up but is usually a waist of time as I'm always up against an all in machine. Plus i don't want to invest more than $5 as I will most likely lose my investment. Any particular poker site where the players do play seriously hu at the lower limits or just anything out there that could help my lacking game?

I usually am mid stack once in the final 3 but keep getting out played.

Sounds like you play way too tight late in the game. Im sure you play real tight early so take advantage of your image. Raise a lot of hands pre flop. You will be surprised how many blinds you can steal.

Thanks Kayos,

Just finished 2 sit n go's, I played more aggressive in the final 3 although I did not feel quite comfortable with it yet, it did play better finishing with a 1st and 2nd but this time I wasn't getting blinded out.

Cheers mate hopefully I can keep this play up

Good job. I read an article not too long ago. It said Play like Dan Harington early in the Touney/SNG and play like Gus Hansen in the last part. LOL

Yeah, I would defiantley agree with the advice to play aggressive when down to the final 3, people will fold to you a lot and than even if they do call, you were aggressive pre-flop so you can likely pick up the pot post-flop (at least this seems to work for me) but basically you just can't be scared to make moves. I know this will be different for you at first, but you'll get used to it, good luck on the tables.
PS: Not to be like forcefully advertising but if you want to play some heads up with worry free cash check out my signature
