This was a fairly crazy table in that 3-4 people were seeing flops, but a lot were ducking out on the flop and turn. SB, in particular had seen 34 of the 97 showdowns to this point and was carrying a 60%+ VPIP and I was betting for value. I have read SSH and this table was playing like a 1/2 6-max table, being a Saturday and all.
I think I might have been a little too out of the loop on this one. On the flop, should I have 3-bet the flop to get a free card? I don't like foding here, but I'm saying that thinking more of the mid-limit Sklansky book that I've used a lot for going back to limit for a while and as I've said, this table was playing out more like a SSLHE table.
On the turn, do I just call or should I raise for value here? Why? Or am I just folding because all I have is Ace high and I'm against an A9 or A6 or even a 77 that he's not gonna lay down? Do I have the best hand?

Call with nothing, raise for value, or fold because I'm beat?

What can you beat?
AT? Fold.

I can beat 45, 57, 78, T8, AT, A8, A7, A5, KQ, and KJ. I wouldn't be surprised to see any of those hands based on what I'd seen through the rest of the session. Of course, I wouldn't be surprised to see A6, 67, 56, A3, K9, Q9, T9, or 89 either. A full house isn't there. He re-raises me PF with any pair and even A9. I don't think he's playing K6, Q6, J6, T6, 96, 63, or 62 and I don't see a 9 lower than 97.

I'm thinking he has 9Tish. A fold is in order.

ya.... that 6 helped nobody... if u think u had him beat before (which you better have if u called that raise) i say reraise.. and if u think he had you, then u shouldve folded on the flop... i cant really see a call there, he'd just do the same thing next card

also, since he called a preflop raise, i wouldnt be a bit surprised with him having an overpair, a set, or two high cards like you. other than that, there's really no reason for him to like that flop... certainly no straight possibility out there... nor a flush

I'll wait a couple of days. If I forget, remind me. This hooks in with the question behind a question that coash asked about a Sklansky quote from Hold 'em Poker for Advanced Players on how to follow through with overcards in a shorthanded game, especially against a bad player.
