Default when to gamble when you know your beat

Hi guys first post , be gentle

i grew up playing 5 card draw cash games then manila , home games clubs etc for stakes of up to 20 bucks per card max raise in manila with no cap to raises
2 years ago i was drawn into the new rage , holdem poker
i was a very tight manila player and that carried over to the holdem cash games
generaly people would buy in for 100 bucks and it was no limit
after getting my arse skun ( there are no 4 card straights or flushes in manila as you have to use both hole cards ) i started to pick up the game
in 2 years of cash games i have to say 7 out of 10 games i walked out winning , but never a monster win , once i was up around 100 bucks i would superglue the win to my pocket and play even tighter , very boring but profitable

i put 100 bucks into party poker and in 4 months had 450 bucks playing with no more than 25 bucks on a cash table and a few hours a night

i then took a foray into tornaments .... if your not snoozing yet my question is coming up

and to say online im getting killed is an understatement , as for the casnino ive now played 25 tournamnets with 100 + people with 7 top 20 finishes (not very profitable) and a 3rd and a 7th

i think my main problem is that im not willing to gamble on all ins and have a built in instinct to see a flop

i nearly fall over backwards when online i see a person call the 3rd raise all in with 3/4 of their stack with a/2 off and crack kk or qq

ill explain the hand and like some advice on if you would have played or folded if you knew you where beat preflop

3/4 way through a 6 buck torni ( very high stakes lol ) first prize is 400 bucks odd

im in the big blind and get dealt JJ i have a stack of 35k

first to speak raises to 10k he has a stack of 50 odd k

the button reraises 10k to 30k .... with a 70k stack

ok i put the first one on pockets 10 or over and i put the button , because he didnt shove all in on kk or aa

now i have to risk my hole stack 35k at a potential pot of 75k with one player yet to act and i belive im behind to at least one over pockets

what would you do ?

i fold my hand first player shoves all in , second calls

they show qq and aa respectfully yes ive made the right call ... but oh no a jack hits the turn ..... after that my game turned to mud (yes i let it get to me )

both players had me covered so it was 108k that went begging

anyways thanks for listening and thanx for any replies

Good fold just unlucky that your 2 outter hit.

Can't let that bother you and hurt your game. Sure you could have had alot of chips but you made the right play.

JJ is my least favorite hand.

no question right decision... shows good potential that you didnt get attached to JJ pf. Bad that you let it tilt you. Try not to be results oriented and just try to do the right thing

If you put at least one of them on QQ+, then you are going to end your tournament (as they have you covered) 8 out of 9 times. Even if you are wrong, you'll be risking your tournament on a 50/50 against AK/AQ/KQ for at least one of them. Easy fold with your reads.

As for the tilt, it's a huge factor in poker, and identifying the situations you tilt in is essential, as you can be playing tilted without even knowing it, which is more dangerous than knowing you are tilted. If you can't control it at any point, learn to walk away and do something else for a while to clear your head. Both of the above will prove very +ev in the long term.

even if they didnt have u covered with higher pair, with 2 players in and a wide range I really dont like JJ...unless u hit a set JJ is very weak in a 3 way pot..As for tilting my problem is I get sloppy when im ahead, I find 5-10 minutes of quiet comteplation on ur goals helps, also put stickies on ur comp screen reminding u to stay cool and play smart...sounds silly but it really works, just need to focus ur mind
