David, I agree with you pretty much 100%. I very rarely use block bets unless I'm playing against very poor players. A block bet in my standard home game just gets laughed at. I don't see them being very profitable in the long run, or should I say, after an infinite amount of hands.

And i think block bets work well against weak players, i bet about 1/3 pot, but i still dont do it very often

So you guys are saying a block bet is a rather small bet designed to make your opponent think you have something good so that he will just call you rather than raise you, in order for you to see a showdown?

Is that correct?

What games do you play? No limit? Limit? Tourneys? Cash? What levels? Give us the details. I would suggest reading Small Stakes HoldeEm by Sklansky, No Limit HoldEm Theory and Practice by Sklansky, and Professional No Limit HoldEm Volume 1 by Miller in that order. This will help you get an understanding of the concepts that we are talking about.

david, i'd continue doing it until you have a read that tag's raise it or whatever and then 3bet them.
