Default Distracted Poker

This goes against all the good advice I've ever received about focusing while playing, but...I seem to play a lot better at the lower limits while doing other things. I open up a couple tables, and start reading the news online, checking mail, etc...

This seems to help me with overthinking a lot of spots as I find myself trying to over-read people when I should just be playing honest poker. It also helps to not go on tilt as easily when I get a bad beat put on me. Does anyone else who plays the lower limits experience this?

Well, I think at the lower limits there are less skilled players. That might have something to do with you playing better.

Agree on the helps you not go on tilt part - also helps me not get bored when playing so I don't do stupid things like calling 2 raises with crap hands just to play :O. In the end it helps me

Amen...It really helps me to NOT focus, which should be a bad thing, and in all good sense is a bad thing. I think it stems from trying to overcomplicate the game. Which is in essence, what poker forums are for too, I guess.

I guess if I was able to control tilt better, and I had better online reading skills, then I would be better off focusing on a couple of tables...more holes to fill in my game.

I usually have a couple sites open while playing. I sometimes even talk with some friends online while I play -- I honestly see no difference in my play compared to when I'm fully concentrated on poker.
