Ugh. I put the SB on a weak 2 pair that turned into a boat on the river. The SB sure was playing maniacal.

Yeah, with the SB playing just about anything fast, and the BB calling down with anything, I figured the River Raise to be +EV.

What strange river action....

Why raise the river and not cap the turn?

So the SB bet the flop on a pure steal, trying to represent a flush, everyone calls, so he bets the turn trying to represent it again. Pretty marginal play against 4 others but you gotta give it up sometime when everyone keeps calling and then raising! That was just bad play all the way through by the SB.

Why didn't you raise the flop, Marm, to protect your small flush and figure out where you were at better? That's definitely what I would have done, thoughts?

Yeah growlers.. not sure where my flush stood, his reraise on the turn intriged me though...

I think i didnt cap the turn is out of pure confusion... But I still felt (and still do) that the river raise was +EV.

If the river raise with +EV so was capping the turn! Plus you protect yourself from the naked

I agree that it was +EV in this case, but mostly because the SB played like an idiot from start to finish. So it is +EV becuase he will be an idiot more times than he will have a boat or a higher flush. Against a better player or in middle limit hold'em, I would have just called the river when the 2nd king hit.

I think the better way to play this was to raise the flop, raise the turn and then call on the river when the paired board hit. As soon as you flop the medium flush, I think you press press press it until either the board pairs or a spade hits, then you call. You have to go to showdown no matter what in a typical LLHE game though with this hand. People call with all sorts of crap in LLHE so you just don't know. Just get your money in earlier!
