This is from a 2+2 thread about Paul Phillips sitting in a 2-5NL game, and playing like a nut just to get the table covered, went through 4-5 buy-ins before he built his stack to where he wanted it, and then put on a "clinic" as he says.

2+2 poster:
how can you dominate a game like that? if they are bad players you just have to wait for good hands.

Paul's reply:
What a strange perspective. It is they who end up waiting for good hands... which is what gets them in the end. Not that this table was loaded with bad players, just players with a lot less experience.
In limit you can beat bad players by tightening up. In no-limit there are a LOT of ways to beat them and tightening up is nowhere near the most profitable.

A lot of pro players do that for 2 reasons.
1st to gamble a bit a build a huge stack
2nd to put the table on fire and forced poeples out of their natural (regular) game type. (confort zone) Other players are usualy not proplayers so they can play effectively only one type of game....

one other thing I thought it.
2/5 is obviously not a bankroll buster for people like Paul, so they can handle the added variance that comes from these plays.

Paul Phillips could lost 10 000$ every day for the next 10 years and still have a bankroll...
