i was playing in a 60 dollar tourney at a local casino.... i was a bit lower than average chips, and blinds where goin up pretty quick.
i was big blind with 58 off suit, 9 people at the table, and everyone folds and the small blinds just calls. flop comes A8A, and i went all in. he called with K8 and i lost.
was this the righrt move with just bad luck, or shouldi have played it differently?
thanks

some info on the blinds/stacks help. i rarely let sb open limp. i almost always raise/push depending on stacks and blinds. i broke go broke on the flop here too. sounds like you were very short stacked
it's better to be pissed off than pissed on

tables were loose, but they folded around to sb?
depending on sb's stack i either push or check pf. you have enough to make him fold if hes not an idiot or big stack.
on flop you prob have to go broke thereit's better to be pissed off than pissed on

it also depends on the type of player who limps in from the sb.. if you noticed him doing it all day then he could be holding anything..reraising his limp is dangerous here too because if he has a read on you he may just put you on a steal and reraise you back trying to make it look like he was slowplaying a pair and was trying to trap you. Which would force you fold or call his bet and hit on the flop or reraise all in too show that your weren't just raising with nothing,, which would be a complete bluff and only work if he was short stacked. If he was chip leader he could call you down with anything and if he hit the flop would take you out of the tourney. Pretty much it depends on the type of player who limped in. and thats why you should base your decision on the person not your cards. Plus did he give off any tells that he hit two pair on the flop.

Are you one of those tell obsessed people? He was first to act, the other guy just has to sit there and he won't give off any info on his hand. Your post doesn't make that much sense either, the guy only has 4 bbs. If he raises, it would be all in, there wouldn't be an oppurtunity to get raised back.

As a side note, it sounds like your tournament format was horrible. I suggest taking a look at blind structure before entering another tournament like this.

that makes perfect sence above..Iwas referring to Jack King off's earlier post where he said he rarely let ppl limp in from the sb. Those are three possible outcomes if you were to raise his limp in... Plus i get way more information off tells and taking notes on ppl then just playing the cards... maybe you should try viewing your game from a different angle.
