I was playing in a NL home game with about 8 of my friends about a month ago. The buy in was 10 dollars I was pretty confident agianst these foes. Early i made some good plays and was up about 3 dollars when came

i wasn't going to slowplay my aces, but i wanted to make some money so i raised 2 dollars with the blinds at 10/20 cents everyone folded around to the big blind who called
the flop came..

i hit my set and felt i needed to end this now incase of the dimond flush draw so i bet 4 dollars, and the BB called. the turn came..

so i bet another 2 dollars still feeling i was ahead.. and the BB called again
river came...

i checked and the BB went all in.. Since i raised on the flop and the turn and got called i put the BB on an lower set or ace with a good kicker.. so i called.. he turned over..

and made the flush
Was there anything else i coulda done or was this just a bad beat???

I would have bet more on the turn.
But he did have top pair with a flush draw, so he pretty much had to call all of your bets. Which is where making the bets bigger makes him have to wonder if his pair of aces are good enough to risk not catching his flush.

I'm pretty sure he would have called the whole way through no matter what u bet... nothing you could do except bet more on turn so when he doesnt catch

Why do u feel you need to bet out to protect against the flush draw and then it comes and u think he doesnt have it..? 0_o
You have to go with your reads and not what you hope he has

If you were in that situation with trip Aces and an all in raise on the river with a flush possiblity out there would you have folded(reminded over half of our chips are in the pot)

What you do in this situation is go all in and then show your hand

Simply put, your turn play SUCKED.
Make a blocking bet on the river maybe? Something less than what he'd bet with a medium flush, but enough he wont raise w/o the nuts.
Anyways just rebuy and keep on trucking.“There's no sense in being precise when you don't even know what you're talking about.” - John von Neumann
