    Default Check raising

When do you use it ?
Why do you check raise ?
When's the "best" time to check raise ?

Rarely but more than I should.

To get more money in the pot.

If you're against an opponent who would fold to a bet but stab at the pot if checked to.
    OR
If you put your opponent on a hand that's good but not quite as good as yours, e.g. if you had quads and he had a boat. See Hansen vs. Negreanu on HSP for a good example of a pretty much perfectly-placed check-raise.

    mid limits - standard move.

CB'er in late. You limp in, preflop in early (need a tightish table for this). He raises late - you call

flop you check - he cbs - you re-raise (often get fold at that point) On turn lead out half pot. Any response other than fold at this point means you've lost. But given that his cb is just that - you'll take the pot down enough to make it a +ev move.

You need a tight image, and reads on the table so it works at the 25 hand mark..

If you have outs to an unlikely strong hand (runner/runner flush) you WILL stack the guy if you hit - he will not put down if he calls this level of aggression AND he will be furious

    check raise bluffing

    Decent thread on check-raise bluffing.
For Free Money, Rakeback and some 6x Ongame bonuses, I recommend PokerSource.

I recommend Cardrunners for superb poker coaching. It was honestly the single biggest improvement in my game signing up there! Sign-up fee might seem steep, but it pays itself back within weeks.

What about check raising, top pair shitty kicker or mid pair strong kicker ?
Generally speaking, is it better to bet out or check raise ? (let's say 3 way pot)

This is such a vague question, it depends on soooooooooo many factors.

The only times that i usually check raise is vs people who i'm pretty certain will bet/cbet flop if checked to them.

How much should the raise be compared to the c bet ? 2.5 times ?

The raise should be your standard raise for the hand you are trying to represent.

I think the CB followed by a CRAI on the turn is a good line agaisnt players who float a lot (obviously board dependent!)

Check/raising top pair with a shitty kicker or mid pair with a strong kicker is a dreadful move because we are turning an actual hand with showdown value in to a bluff.

I quite like check/raise bluffing in 3way pots if we have checked, PF raiser has bet and the other PF caller has folded.
