Default Not hand analysis but please bear with me

I consider myself to be a steady player, I'm nothing exceptional but I would like someone more intelligent than me to explain my pokerstars graph to me please.

SharkScope - The Largest Online Poker Tournament Results Database

My overall record is one of a very small profit but the swings over the 1000 games have been wild. I know there's some variance in the game but surely not as much as my graph demonstrates.

I go through spells of crazy outdraws and then because of them, I tighten my game up and overbet my big hands which can often leave me short stacked as the blinds increase.

How do I become more consistent? I'm obviously doing quite a bit right but I'm also obviously making some bad mistakes.

    Help, it's driving me insane.

Sorry, as the sharkscope link didn't take you to my graph, please search the database for millimetres on pokerstars.

    Thanks

Changing your game and second guessing yourself if the problem. Like Wota posted in another thread shortly ago you can easily go for 20 straight without cashing in these.

SNGs are all about the bubble and push fold. Playing push fold you're only slightly favoured coinflip for your life in the tournament each time, so it's expected.

When you go on a losing streak don't change your game and stick it out. You obviously went for some pretty long stretches there playing a good game.

the majority of ur sngs have been in the $20-$30 buyin range but this is the range in which you are playing at breakeven/neg ROI

your biggest losses appear to have come in the 180 man sngs and 6man sngs although theres only ~100 of these played in total

u are basically breakeven at 9man sngs over ~750.

your saving grace to date has been the 18man and 45man sngs with a very good ROI over ~100 played.

i dont know whether u can do the searches or not and im not meaning to be harsh but those are the facts as i can see them....what you now decide to do with them is the real question.

continue playing the 180's? stop playing them? move down to the $20's and build from there?

u obviously have a game that can win and id most certainly not deviate from this even when things are going bad for you.

I've been amazed at the long streaks of success or failure. I'll go over a dozen 18-man sng's without cashing once and then go over a dozen of those more than making up for all of those losses. It's just the nature of games involving a decent amount of luck, there are long streaks in both directions.

Cheers for the replies fellas. I think I'm quitting poker for a while though as I'm sick of donkeys sucking out on me. I have kept a log of the last 50 games I've played. I failed to cash in 37 of them and 33 of the hands I got knocked out on were outdraws. Marginal outdraws I can take but it's got to the point now where I'm not playing properly as I have zero confidence that my hands are going to hold up.

The final staws were 3 33 dollar stt's I played on Party Poker. The first, 5 left in, blinds 200/400 I have AQ in the sb. Folds to the button who min raises to 800, he has 5000 chips. I push my remaining 3000 chips into the pot and he insta-calls showing A5 off suit. He it's his 5 and I'm out.

2nd; 4 left in, I have KK on the button, blinds are 300/600 and I have 4000 in chips, I move all-in and I'm called by the chip leader who has 7900 chips with 87 suited. He hits 2 pair and I'm gone again.

Last game, I'm short stack with 2600 chips, blinds are 300/600 and I'm on the button with A10, I move all-in and I'm called by the big blind who has 3800 chips and A7, flop comes 992, with the turn and river being 77.

I cannot help but feel that I'm somehow being cheated. The run of luck I'm on defies all logic and I just don't want to play the game anymore. Also, Party Poker are ripping me off with their exchange rate, as I withdrew 200 dollars from from Pokerstars and received 100 pounds but when I deposited 100 pounds on Party Poker, I only received 189 or so dollars. If they can't be trusted to play fair with the exchange rate it's a really poor show.

are u in the UK? if u sign up to Neteller and open a US$ account, u can avoid all forex losses.

i can feel ur pain about not cashing in sngs as i recently went through what felt like the worst run of luck anyone could possibly get......the fact is that u will get both good and bad luck but obv the bad hurts more.

fwiw, i think the $6 18 and 45 man sngs on Stars are pretty soft and will show a very nice profit if u can stick at them and may be good to stick to for a while until u get ur confidence back.

Thanks Yaka, I'm wondering what to do next, as I cannot offord to play through this streak at the level I have been. I only earn 22k per year and losing >300 dollars in a month isn't good for me.

I think 10 dollar 18/27/45 seaters are going to have to be the games I play for the time being, as I need to get back to playing for fun, rather than trying to supplement my income. Historically, I have struggled to play my best game in <10 games, as I play way too loose but I'm going to try and set myself some goals to spur me on.

The bad run continued on pokerstars until I finally uninstalled it from my system today. I downloaded Titan Poker and found a nice double stack sit and go. At the time of writing, I have played 10 and made the money in every one of them, you can keep a track of my progress on Sharkscope, my username is Reg74.
