Simply a Newb needing help
I am trying to start the land-slide of my decreasing bankroll and obviously need help. I play .05/.10$ NL Cap and PL tables, and cant come out positive for my life...I also cant win a SnG if I wanted to, so please help by assessing my general strats....thanks
Tables:
I only like to play top 10-15 hands and KNOW I'm just playing to conservative and have a hard time trusting my hands sometimes.
SnG:
Just again play conservative and try to really capatalize on good hands, trying to survive to "money"
All in All I just need some tips on SnG play (1.00 +.25) tables...and simple analysis on my play in general, with corrections

I can help you with your cash game play. Do you have PokerTracker? If not you need to get it and start logging some hands. If you do have it then I would like to see all your primary stats please.

Alex's sng video. Scripture as far as I'm concerned. You have to adapt a little for the lower stakes - conventional blind stealing instead of outright shoving, but otherwise it holds pretty true, especially the early stages. The $1 + 20c sngs on stars are very fishy but the 20% fee is the killer.

I play the $1+0.20 SNG's on Poker Stars all the time and it's very difficult to play "real NL hold'em" on there. In the first half of one there are so many calling stations that it's very iffy at best trying to bluff so my recommendation is to exhibit great patience and then when you do finally hit a hand it will pay off due to the calling stations. It may not be the most fun you've had in a poker game (playing very tight) but that's how I've done well; the times I've played much more aggressively early are the times I've gone from $1400 to zero in ten seconds flat because someone called big bets with low pair on the flop etc. (people will also bet big in early position on the flop with middle pair thinking that is good and then sticking with the hand all the way through or just because they are angry; early is a great time to get a big hand because you'll get paid off most times).
Once you get to the final table (or the final six) it's generally mostly the better players remaining plus one or two (or three) wild ones or calling stations who happened to get lucky. Often the chip leader at a final table is a wild lucky one who will often not make it to the final two because he doesn't really know how to play. Against the better players it's tougher to be successful.
I've played several hundred $1+0.20 SNG's and make on average $0.17 (i.e. take back $1.37 on average). Probably in a real game I'm not good but in these I've had success.
If you go up to the $5+0.50 the play changes radically and there are relatively much fewer wild and crazy players or calling stations, at least in the SNG's I've played in at that level.

Question :
Why do you want to play poker ? " and cant come out positive for my life..."
It affects your life ? It affects your state of mind, you feel like you are a loser ? What do you mean ?
But anyways, why don't you play play chips ? That's how I started and learned. If you can beat the highest stakes in play chips regulary in sng, then, you will understand enuff of what's going on in 1$ sng. There's no magic formula... I think you need experience or you lack off ? You need to "understand the hands", put people on hands.
In low stake sng like this, all you need to do is get paid when having the nuts. Go all in a lot of times when you have a strong hand. I would even suggest going all in preflop with AA KK and to some extent QQ because like some guy said before, a lot of calling station are present. Down to 6 people, you should have enuff chips to finish in the monney with tight play

update won my only SnG tonight and then played a heads up at 2.00 +15 and won it too....the only thing I need help on is what hands do you like to play early SnG. I know you should be conservative, and I have been, and usually just play top ten hands or check my bb for free flop

Just an update,
I have won a few SnG's and am up 27$ since I last posted (1$ sng and .05/.10 tables) and really appreciate the help you guys have given me. Also decided to try one 2$ sng and one it too, so 1/1 in it.
