    Default LIttle help here folks

Ok, outcome irrelevent, I'm having mixed emotions about how I played this hand. I dont remember the exact details, But I ended up losing between 1/3 and 1/2 my stack with it. The numbers I'm going to give dont jibe just right, but its how I remember it.

Scenario, I have about 35 bb's (maybe as high as 45) in my stack. about 3/4 the way through a MTT. 1k+ started, 150-185 left, 80 pay. Blinds are sizable, with an ante.

I get in the BB. UTG+1 (has about 10-12bb's?, I got him covered by about 3x) makes a min raise. For some reason, based on his past play and the conditions at the table, I'm thinking a strong medium pair, TT-QQ, but that is very iffy at this point.

Everybody folds, I call the 1bb. I'm getting like 5 or 6 -1 on this call, so I think this was OK. So theres about 7 bb's in the pot

Flop is . Not good for me but not bad at all. But I'm not sure what to do being OOP, so I check, He bets the pot, leaving himself a lfew chips. Ok Now I'm sure he has TT-QQ, So now I'm thinking I got 12 outs, 9 diamonds (maybe 8 if hes got one), and the 3 aces are good. Thats 48% (44% if you adjust for >11 outs). I'm getting 2-1 on this call, on almost a 50/50 shot, so I call.

Turn is . He pushes for the rest, and by now, yup i'm "pot committed', better yet, I'm getting super odds for my 3-1 shot now (24%ish). Unless of course he just hit his set, so I'm down to, worse case, 6 outs, 12%.

    River is . Dammit.

And I was right, hes got .

Cash ring game, I'd have no questions about this. I like it. But a tourny, I dunno. Of course if I had won, you'd never hear about it so....

PS. Per PokerStove, I was only a 53%-47% dog on the flop, so the odds are there.

If you are going to call if he pushes all-in then you are going all-in first since he doesnt have many chips. If you check then you check/fold.

    Lets see the scenarios:

If you push then he calls with a pp, calls with overcards or folds his overcards.

If you check he pushes with a pp or checks with overcards.

So if you push first you have the chance that he will fold his overcards but you lose the potential free card. But its much more common for most of the players to bet their overcards when the bb checked than calling an all-in for their stack with A high.

Now if you want to gamble you push, if you want to be safe you check/fold, dont check/call. In this case it doesnt make any difference but if he holds overcards it does.

Edit: The pf call is asking for trouble if you get carried away and convince yourself he has a pp when you flop the A and it ends up that he has AK. Its fine if you play it for at least 2 pair or if you want to gamble if you flop the flush draw.

You also said that you like it at a cash game? Why? You are fine with calling a 47/53 bet? There is roullette too as i learned recently.. Black/Red has the same odds.

Sorry if i sounded like an ass, i am just trying to make my point with a funnier way.

Is this from the same tourney where you were down to 130 in the first few levels?

His chip stack is pretty important to see if you were getting the proper implied odds.

No chance he had AQ or AK? Either way, I guess that game you the same number of outs as you could pair your kicker and win.

You were gonna call on the flop and the turn, why not bet out on the flop? If he did have AK or AQ, you could have bought the pot.

Black/red is a <50% shot, due to the presence of the greens, but they only pay 1-1. THis was a 47/53 shot, that paid at least 2-1. Yes i like this in a cash game.

OK i do like putting him in first, that would have increased my chances of winning the pot, since now his folding increases my pot equity. Even if he only lays down his hand 1/20 times, thats enough to make me the favorite, and worth betting.

I said bet, but not all-in, maybe 1/2 - 3/4 of the pot.
