It is quite unbelievable how much respect the other players at the table give you seeing as this is a live game. I play similar stakes live and no one mucks top pair, even if you are the tightest player at the table.

How deep was your stack in that JJJ hand?
I can't see myself ever folding that hand in a $200NL game with the flush draw on board and the chance of some dead money in the pot if we do end up all in vs QK. Maybe 200bb deep against a nit I start having to think about it.

EDIT: For anyone who bothered reading this post but not the blog:

Now it's time for my big lay down of the day: I folded a bloody set of jacks on the flop! Heres how it went: I was in mid position and a guy UTG made it $7 to go. I had JJ and decided to flat call and so did a few others. The flop came A Jc 10c the pre flop raiser bet out $20 I flat called and then a loose aggressive player decided it re-raise to $60. Then the preflop raiser moves all in! Now action is on me a lot of thoughts were running through my mind. First of all I didn't have much respect for the guy who re-raised to $60 because he was raising ppl a lot and anytime someone played back at him he folded. But the guy who moved all in had recently re bought after an all in altercation with the nut straight vs a set of 4's. The board paired on that hand and he lost. I thought is he really tilting that bad? I thought for about a minute and decided to fold. I figured even though I could have the best hand there is a good chance that one of these two raises is KQ which would be the nut straight. The guy who made it $60 of course folded and the guy who moved all in took down the pot. I told him "I gave you a lot of credit on that hand my friend". He said "For good reason I had the nuts!" I said "Well we will never know if the board would have paired". He said "You folded a set? What a set of 10's?" I said "Yes, set of 10's". He then changed his story and told me he had top pair and a royal flush draw, which would be AK of clubs.

Well you must be referring to the last hand I played when I rivered the flush and bet $25. It was just one of those odd situations where the two tightest players in the game were heads up. He was the only player other than me capable of making that fold. But the other hand where the guy showed me AJ he was just smart enough to know he was outkicked. I mean I went all in for like $200 he would have to be a complete donk to call.

At that point I think I had about $300 in front of me. The guy to my right who pushed all in had about $180-200 and the guy to my left who made it $60 had about $250. Basically I folded because I thought there was a good chance between the two of them that one of them had KQ. But honestly I was pretty sure the guy on my left was full of it and the guy on my right either had AKclubs or KQ. I decided since I was either up againtst the nuts or a nut flush draw/straight draw that I didnt want to gamble a big chunk of my stack. It was a very tough fold for me and I am sure if you are used to playing higher stakes it would be an easy call for you. But I am grinding it out at 1/2 and I dont like putting all my money on the line unless I am very sure I have the best hand. In this case I was 50/50.

Thank you to anyone who read my first blog entry. I have just finished the second entry for anyone who is interested.

Here's my rough calculation on the hand:

    $30 or so in preflop
    $20 bet
    $20 you called
    $60 raise
    $170 all in bet

This means that there is roughly $280 in the pot and you need to put $170 in to call. This is rough but by your story I think pretty accurate. This means you were getting 1.6-1 on your money.

Even if we knew 100% the all in was KQ and the other player would fold every time it is close to a call with those odds as we still win hand 35% of time.

He needs to be a really, really tight player that you can narrow his hand range to just AK clubs and KQ.

He was not really, really tight player. But when it comes to all in situations he would not go all in unless he was very strong. I believe him when he told me he had AK of clubs in which case I should have called.

A couple things I forgot to mention in my blog. The guy that pushed all in, in the JJJ hand later on folded KK pre flop! A tight player in early position raised it to $10 and he made it $30 and the tight player pushed all in. The guy thought about it for a very long time and showed KK and mucked it! Everyone at the table was talking about the lay down and two players said they folded and Ace, based on this most players at the table thougt the all in was not AA. The guy who pushed all in would not say a word.

Later on when the guy who folded KK was short stacked he raised w/ AKs and I re raised w/ QQ he moved all in for a little more and I called. My QQ held up. After he left the player who made him fold KK admitted that he did have AA.
