Hi,
I am new here but I've been playing live poker for quite a while. I had this bad situation yesterday. I am playing a $10 buy in tournament yesterday.
I had Ac Ts offsuite with the second largest chips on the table. I had areound 15000 in chips I called an all in of 2500 and so did 3 other guys. The flop is 8s 3h Ad there were two other guys acting after me. I raised all in sensing they don't have an Ace but the irony is they both called. One of the guy is a chip leader with 25000 in chips.
The thing I cannot believe is the guy to my left who called had an 9 2 offsuite, and the chipleader had K8 of hearts and they both called, I thought the 9,2 guy was crazy but why would a chip leader risk soo much in chips on a draw. The result was he ended up winning with a runner runner heart.
I don't know if I have done anything wrong or is it that there are crazy folks like that every where or did he make the right move.
One note I won all hands upto that point I played which is about 5 out of 20 some hands.
Any suggessions or insights would help.

200-400 are the blinds, Its fairly at the beginning of the tournament around 25 people left out of 40. And rebuys are still available for purchase

The guy seriously called all-in with 92? How many chips did he have left?
How close to the money were you, because that will make a difference as to how you should play it.
If you are far away from the money, then this play is fine as you don't want people catching stupid cards (the fact that you got called and lost was just bad luck, you got what you wanted).
If you were in the money or close to the money then you might consider checking the hand down to try and eliminate the original all-in player.
As this was live poker you are bound to get called by middle pair and other worse hands, but 92 is simply awful, at least that guy didn't win the hand.

OK I didn't see your latest post. Seeing as re-buys are still available you cannot expect anyone to fold middle pair, but even so you made the correct play and got your money in with the best hand.

The 9 2 guy had 4100 in chips if he rebuys he will get 2500 and even with that I dont see why he called. He just got lucky last hand with Q7s with a runner runner flush. 9,2 offsuite makes no sense to me.
I am very far away from money. People can still rebuy for 1 more round (15 mins). I am just pissed because with such a play I dont expect the guy with the largest stack getting close to money but eventually he ended up 2nd. May be he changed his play or something. I did not stick around to see.

If the blinds are that low there's no need to gamble. You could either do a smaller raise, flat call or even just fold.

Out of 40 people? I can understand how that guy could get the chip lead playing like that with 25 left. It's a shame that he probably finished in the money with the chips he got here.
