I was in the final 2 of a SnG last night with about a 2-1 chip lead, and get pocket duces. IIRC, the other guy was first to act and min-raised. How would you all play this?
I pushed, thinking that if he had a pair he would have raised more. I was hoping he'd either a) fold to my riase not wanting to put his tourney on the line with a hand he'd only min raise with, or b) call with two overs and my pair would hold up. Unfortunately I got C) he calls with overs and hits one of them on the turn. I couldn't see just calling there - unless I hit trips on the flop I'd just about have to fold if he showed any strenght at all, and I really didn't want to lay down the pair.
So, go ahead and berate me - what SHOULD I have done?

I would call the min bet if the blinds weren't that big. Stack:blinds is important, I don't want to get too involved with ducks, they are a collective dog.

Well, first, you need to find a nice edition of Webster's Dictionary, and look up the word "Deuce."

What are the blinds? If they are really high its fold or raise. You're out of position so you need to flop a set or bluff from 1st position.

smooth call and hope for a set would be my normal play with that sort of chip ratio. If the ratio was 3-to-1 or greater then I'd re-raise him to all in. As it stands, you've got a great takeout hand here IMO...if a two flops you're almost assuredly the best hand and its not going to look harmful from your opponent's vantage. Presumably he'll bet into you and you can either cripple him via milking his stack with calls or end the thing right there by enticing him all-in. If you miss the flop and get bet into, its an easy laydown with minimal investment made on your part.

I really don't see how reraising all in could ever be good here. you are going to be on less than 50/50 over the range of hands your opponent would hold.
The best you can hope for is A2 or K2s. And what kind of a fool raises with A2
If you are first in the pot, pushing is ok, but I don't think I would want to double him up unless he only had 3x the blinds.

I'm certainly not justifying it, but the reason for a push would be fold equity. You figure he is folding enoug hands here to make up for the time he calls. I still don't mind a fold here.
