Default Good lay down or am I wayyy to tight?

6 man SNG, top two places pay out.

The BB had been playing solid and was the chip leader. I had meant to fold from the small blind but hit call by mistake.

    Button (t1345)
    Hero (t2910)
    BB (t3700)
    UTG (t770)
    MP (t275)

Preflop: Hero is SB with , .
3 folds, Hero completes, BB checks.

    Flop: (t200) , , (2 players)
Hero bets t100, BB calls t100.

From previous play I think at this point he hit part of this flop. either paired the board or on a draw.

    Turn: (t400) (2 players)
Hero checks, BB bets t200, Hero raises to t600, BB calls t400.

    River: (t1600) (2 players)
Hero checks, BB bets t2900 (All-In), Hero folds.

    Final Pot: t4500

My reasoning for folding is that if I called and lost I was out. If I called and won the BB would have less than a $1000 in chips but we would still have almost a full table. If I folded I would still have over $2000 in chips and still be in good shape to make the money.

After he called the turn check raise I put him on atleast a pair on the board if not 2 pair.

I think my play was correct in my goal to make it to the money. That was probably the hardest laydown I ever had to do

    What are your thoughts?

    Good laydown IMO.

The other 3 folk are fairly short, you're in a strong position so there's no need to get your money in on a mediocre hand. When he calls the c/r he has something, and the overbet on the river means serious strength most of the time.

its a shitty spot but i think this is probably the best play assuming you can dominate the other players still

This is is where i'd go back to see whether i'd call or not, unless he has JJ, J,7 or 77 i dont see him calling your raise here unless he thinks your bluffing, nice fold IMO

I think you're too tight if you're only calling his turn raise with JJ, J7 or 77.
I'd like to sit next to you at the table if you're this weak in blind on blind confrontations.

Because of relative stack sizes I fold the river.

Yes, definitely! I'd bet something like 600-800 but my river bet sizing is something I definitely need work on.

Yes indeed, but it depends on the stakes of the tourney. Otherwise I go for a check/call, calling around a 1/2 pot bet.

I would be wary of who I block bet against. The villain has been playing solid and if he's a savvy player he will see through this bet like a strippers underwear and shove.

You filled up on the river. I'm going busto here. If has a 7 or 77, so be it. If he has JJ, he played it OK.

Looks to me like a busted draw. Looks A LOT like a busted draw. What the hell would he be overbetting that river with? He'd look to sucker you in if he had the absolute nuts.

While yes, I do and other better players do overbet like this with the nuts for value...NEVER respect someone for it at the smaller levels until they've proven it to you.

At these stakes (I'm guessing it's >$10), this is a river bluff 80% of time.
