Note: I'm only still playing on Stars at work because I can't install the FullTilt software on my work PC for some reason.
Something I've noticed on Stars lately is that NO ONE is giving me any respect. It seems like every table I sit at, there's at least 1 or 2 players who will look me up every single time. And since I can't really bluff or C-bet, I often find myself being put into tough spots anytime I enter a pot with a less than premium hand. Before I could raise with hands like KJ from the CO, or maybe 2 OTB, and win the pot with a C-bet. Now I can't. People are looking me up with just overcards and they win the pot when either A> they connect on the turn or river or B> they bluff me out when I give up.
So what kind of adjustments should I make to my game to defend against this? Leaving Stars isn't an option since it's the only site I can play at work (I get 2 hours of playtime every morning before the bosses get in.) And switching tables isn't so easy since I'm running into the same problem on every table I sit at.
Should I just tighten up and play only premium starting hands? (although I run into the same problem with AK on a missed flop.)
Should I remove bluffing and c-betting from my game and stick to just value betting?
Should I get more creative with my bluffs and c-bets (I should note that this usually gets me into trouble.)
Should I limp more, investing less into the pot until I've seen what the flop brings? (I'm guessing the answer to this one is no.)

How are these hands where your not getting respect playing out? You raise in mid to late position, get cold called by the button, who then calls down your c-bet on the flop and possibly the turn, then checks behind on the river? Or he floats the flop and bets it if you don't double barrel?
Or you raise in mid to late position, get reraised, and aren't sure how to play from there?
What levels are you at, 50NL?If you are one in a million, there's eight just like you in Manhattan.

Right now I'm drifting between $50NL and $100NL but seem to be encountering the problem at both levels. Usually what happens is something like this:
I raise from 3 OTB with KJs.
I get called by the BB.
Flop comes Q34.
Villain checks, I bet close to pot, villain calls.
Turn is a blank, lets say another 4, and the villain checks.
At this point, 1 of 2 things will happen.
1. I bet, he calls me. River is an A and it goes check/check, villain has something like AT.
- or -
2. I check and fold to his inevtable river bet (or we both check the river and he wins with A high.)I think I'm going to give up playing poker.........and take up repeatedly hitting myself in the nuts

Live its easy to get respect cuase you look the mother fucker in the eye and fucking tell him whos boss.. if you getting looked up its because your making bad bluffs. play on stars everyone always folds to you when you have aces on the bb(thats respect) MrMcj.. you live in toronto why don't you just drive to niagra or brantford or rama and play some real live poker.. i heard the 5/5nl game at niagra is pretty solid and the 10/20 limit at brantford a good game too.

How often do you 3-bet a mid/late position raiser? I find I get more respect if I 3-bet (in position, of course) at least once for every few orbits.

i fuken hate this.
I'll raise like 10 out of last 20 pots pf, and all the sudden all 6 players have a bounty on my head.
you gotta switch gears.
I'll usually play tight pf, and play tight post flop.
however, if I am playing HU, and cant afford to play tight, this meens i am double and tripple barelling; he will understand that he must respect my bets on flop b/c i will be firing more chips later on.I get more ass than a toilet seat. All shapes/colors/sizes.

Are these players you have a history of playing and have they gotten a read on you.
If so then you can't keep doing what has failed a hundred times before.
You gotta start playing to the opposite of how they expect you to be playing.
If you deduce they are looking you up cause you play your fair share of less than premium hands then don't play less than premium hands.
If they feel you bluff to often then don't bluff so often.
Look to find the good hands and play them as you would have had you been playing the way they expect you to, then Keeerrrrching ... the dollars will roll in.

I suggest switching gears and playing tight every once and awhile. People with Pokertracker may have picked up you're LAG style and are floating you like crazy. When you can't get any cards this is way too frustrating. Tighten up a bit and wait for some good hands.
Could god microwave a burrito so hot, that he himself could not eat it?

Tighten your play too much and loose your bounty
Take a leaf out of Mouthy Mikes book and play with the least obvious cards when you can - cheaply.
If you wait until you have a good hand to play then everyone will know you have a good hand when you play and there wont be any money in it.
sure you'll increase your bank roll with the nuts but dont be too keen to chuck so called 'bad cards' away - they can be worth a mint.
How many times you see
Player 1 AK
Player 2 A 10
Player 3 34
Community Cards A 2 5 10 K- or simular
Bet your life Player one and two throw there bank roll in at it and what cost just a Big blind to see a straight took the pot.
Player 1 and 2 would have thought the norm ... what idiot keeps 34! - woukdnt have seen it a mile away...
same play goes for small pockets, keep them for Big blind money only, BUT NEVER chase for the turn or river - let them go!
See You At The Tables
