    Default Table selection question

i am wondering if anyone can give me some advice to help me select a profitable table when i play poker online.

i am trying to learn no limit holdem ring and am playing 0.05/0.10 on VCpoker. the site has limited stats on the tables, telling you only the average pot and number of players at the table.

when i first began trying ring i would just sit at any table that was 8 handed, often there are a lot of small stacks at the tables who buy in for 1-5 dollars and push often. theese players are often willing to call if i push with AA/KK. however once theese players loose their stack they often leave the table, leaving me playing shorthanded which i prefer to avoid.

recently i have tried to play only at tables where all/most of the players have a bigger stack.

can anyone suggest ways to ensure i am playing at a table that is profitable, and things to consider when i am choosing a table?

    Default might help a bit

By and large what your looking for is to things:

1] higher entry to the flop. At VC 0.05/0.1 you should be seeing about six players entering the flop every round.

2] Little preflop raising. Avoid tables where one or two pple are routinely betting preflop greater than 5bb - These ppl can be beaten but their action tends to tigthen the table so in the long run they scare the fish...

At VC you should play about 6 tables at the same time... Tables do die.. If someone makes two big pots in quick succession then the table is on the way out usually.. It helps if you change tables yourself every 30 minutes at this level. If you do get AA/KK ansd all-in is more likely to be called if the table hasn't been watching you fold 80% of the time..

Personally, I look for loose, passive tables.

Tables that get a lot of dead money in on the small betting rounds, allows me more odds to draw to, and I can run over them on the rare occasion that its neccassary.

Ideally (this my world folks, probably wrong) Iwould like to see 6-7ppl seeing a flop for 1 bet, 3-4 for 2+, and only 2-3 people on the turn, HU on the river. Thats the general patern i like. Allows me to play solid poker, bet my good hands, and get away from marginal ones. Allows for some creativity (not too much) on the end too. You can use raises and CR's for value on the flop a lot more effectively too.

Tables I dont want to see. 5ppl capped PF, with 3 capped on the end. 9ppl limping, and calling a raise PF. 2-3 people 2-3 bet EACH hand PF, HU on END.

Tables are good when you can observe them for <1 rounds and have already picked out at least 3 players with blatant errors. Usually at least 2 more bad players are still hiding there.
Marm is back, maybe. Been off for 3 years. Rusty as Hell.
