    Default Floppy Flush

Ok, here is the situation - I am on the button with

A four limpers in the pot (one had just sat and posted OOT), and I decide to play the hand.

The SB raises. BB calls, one limper actually folds, 5 of us see the flop.

The SB bets out again, 2 callers to me. Do you raise or call here and why?

Raise. Odds are bad that they'd also have two hearts, one of which is a queen, king, or ace. Also, don't you want to reduce their pot odds for chasing a Q, K, A heart?

    raise.

a single Q, K, or A of hearts kills you.

automatic raise in my book, I'll only slowplay a King high flush on the flop, and even then I would usually raise to.

Kid, not worried about if my hand being second best (althought it was in my mind - I busted out of a tourney in a situation very similar but limit it won't cost too much).

    Steve-O,

I did raise, here is why I think it may be better slow play it.

Raising now isn't going to drive out someone with a single

    or

or a set or two pair who already called one bet.

Raising won't protect my hand but it may kill the action in the hand. I wonder if you get more money waiting for the turn, and if it doesn't pair or have a fourth heart hit, then raise (if it hits, call down). That way I will get an extra big bet out of people. The downside is that if some of the callers do not improve on the turn they may fold anyway when the SB bets again or worse yet they all check to me.

When in doubt, I try to get the money in upfront.

You really think it is a no-brainer steve?

I think you can eliminate the queen and maybe the king with a raise.

pretty close to a no brainer. plus against bad players they will probably think you WOULDN'T raise yet with the flush. It does kill the action to a certain extent but this pot is already fairly large and you shouldn't mind giving away your hand either.

there are 8 hearts that would scare you plus plus 9 ways to pair the board. 17 cards will kill the action from you on the turn.

But everyone already called one bet, I am on the button, so you think that they will now fold for one more bet after calling?

I did win the hand, and a queen hung around and folded on the river.

    Similar Scenario:

In the BB with , 5 limpers, Sb folds, you check.

    Flop comes

What to do? What to do?

I considered checkraising, but I figured that may end up costing me more bets in the long run, or they would be no action at all. So I bet out, MP raised, and LP 3 bet, so I folded. Turn paired and It went capped to the river, where it was the obvious nut flush vs boat.

Best way to play a weak flush OOP?

Yeah, I think it is easier to dump it if you get raised and re-raised rather than if you check and it gets bet and raised. Probably the cheapest way to get out of the hand.

It doesn't even matter if they fold, if you don't cut down thier pot odds you are makign a mistake and costing yourself money.
