    Default Help/Opinions on pocket Aces

    Im playing a live ( poker club, not online ) tournament the other day.

    Iv battled my way to the last 13 players from a field of around 65 and I have plenty of chips, possibly 4th biggest stack.

    Im dealt pocket Aces on the button, happy days.

    UTG ( who is chip leader ) raises to 4x the BB, middle position who is short stacked pushes all in, I push all in to try and get UTG to fold and take on just the short stack.

    UTG calls.

    UTG = JJ
    SHRT STK = K4 of Hearts
    ME = AA

    Flop = 2Q8 with 2 hearts
    Turn = J of hearts
    River = 7 spades

    So I lost to short stacks flush but that would have don me no real harm, except I also lost to UTG set of JavaScript.

    Obviously very dispondant with what has just unfolded before me I get up and leave the table, shaking the hands of both who had knocked be out.

    As I did this UTG, who is a very experienced player, says to me " you should have folded them mate ".

    My question is, can you really fold Pocket Aces against 2 all ins, except possibly if it was in the bubble position.

    I can see no way out of this hand for myself.

    Help wanted please

    Correct me if i'm wrong, but you can never fold pocket aces PF..........you have the best possible hand, so everyone else would be on a coin flip to catch you.....If i am wrong, please explain

    You are correct... the only way you can flop Pocket Aces Pf is in a satellite when you are on the bubble.

    So you mean if you are in a position to fold every hand until you make it into the $$? I understand this strategy, unfortunately i can never use it because i am always short stacked......probably from my pocket aces getting busted 24o...lol

    It means if you are in a satellite with say 5 people left and the top 4 get entry to a major tournament, you and 3 others have 4k and there's one guy on 500. Blinds are something like 50/100. One of the guys with 4k goes all in and you look down at aces, you should fold them. With equal abilities you will get to the final 4 over 90% of the time with these chipstacks while, in the absolute best case with AA when you're against AK you are something like 92%. The rest of the time you are 80%ish to win and 20% ish you go out altogether. Since you are about 90% to get through, it's not +ev to call here.

    Numbers aren't exact but they tell the same story
    For Free Money, Rakeback and some 6x Ongame bonuses, I recommend PokerSource.

    I recommend Cardrunners for superb poker coaching. It was honestly the single biggest improvement in my game signing up there! Sign-up fee might seem steep, but it pays itself back within weeks.

    Only fold it when you have nothing to gain by playing it.

    if i knew he had jacks I would have folded. hes right, yo ucant always play AA b/c they don't win every time. So if you feel your gunna get a suckout, you should fodl them.
