I tried doing a search on this topic because I have a feeling it has come up before but I couldn't find anything so....
I know a lot of people on this forum do this in tournies, raising or betting to like t1666 or t4332 or whatever, I do it all the time in MTT's and will do it occasionally in STT's when I'm in the mood.
I was playing in a tourney today, and early on I popped it from the SB to t178 or something and someone said it was "obvious I had aces." (I actually had 1010), I said "ty Phil Hellmuth" and proceeded to raise the same way...
So, my question is if you think there are advantages to it and what are they? Or how does it affect your table image?

I dont really do this anymore. I used to all the time.
it can add to your image as a crazy maniac I guess. It is probably a bad idea though since if you are consitently raising to $4.97 and everyone else is conistently raising to $5 it will make your raising frequency more obvious to everyone at the table.
A lot of multitablers or people watching TV probably just think oh theres a raise from EP I muck and don't know exactly who it was.
If you bet odd amounts they may think wow I havent seen that wierdo raise to $4.97 for like an hour and not give you action.
