    Default Blind Defense

Just interested in hearing some of you guys's opinions on blind defense.

Lately, ive been defending blinds very rigorously.. Like re-raising a c/o or button raise with basically AT+, QJ+, 45s+, 57s+, 22+ (this is at like the 2/4, 3/6, 5/10 levels). And after a while, it just doesnt really seem like it is +ev. There would be alot of times where I would re-raise it hard, still get called, then end up cbing the flop only to get raised, or floated. Also when i re-raise, I raise it like 3x the raise + 1 BB (so if a guy raised to 40$ pf in a 5/10 game, I would re-raise to like 130$), and sometimes 3.5x the raise, depending on the stack sizes. But my pf 3-bets still get called down, like A LOT... I would say they get called down greater then 50% of the time. Is this normal for these stakes? it just seems as if people give no respect for pf 3-bets in LP-Blind battles. I also play on a SS, like 50BB, so its not like my pf re-raises are giving them any implied odds to play whatever the hell they are playing.

So I was just wondering, what do you guys usually defend your blinds with?
and what do u guys usually do on missed flops?

Say you 3-betted 78s pf.. flop was 4JK..

or say u 3-betted TT, and flop was like K97.

or AQ and flop was KT8.

    Im not big on it.
if i get a premium hand ill push to their raise to let them know they cant keep doing it, that normally reduces the amount of times they do it.
But for the most part i find it easier just to steal other peoples blinds than to defend my own to much.

i talk alot about this in my video.

I play games where this sort of thing works very well.

From the big blind, I'm going to generally play raise/fold. i will sometimes call a raise with a small pair, but against agg opponents maybe 3bet. I'm trying to incorperate 3betting small pairs more into my game because it gets the better hand to fold on the flop alot, and prevents the CB bluff that is impossible to call on a A K T board with 44.

anyways, say the CO open raises and im on the big blind. it folds to me. I will generally 3bet here with ATs+, AJo+, KQo+, 77+. These are hands that i feel are way ahead of the CO's opening range, and play well agaisnt the hands he calls us with. I 3bet, not call, because i want to have the lead in the hand. i dont want to check fold the flop when i miss 70% of the time. I figure to flop the best hand, take it down pf, and take it down on the flop enough to make it worth it.

Sometimes I will just fold AT, KQ, AJ to a raise, and i dont think its incorrect to do so in some spots.

As for suited connectors, I think you have to incorperate these into your 3betting range, but i dont do so as much. i generally tend to fold S/C's to raises, but will 3bet against a raise and a call. I feel that if you feel its worth it to call a raise in a 4way pot with a s/c you might as well 3bet it. because now its 12 bb's to take pf and a flopped flush/bottom 2 pair is soooooo much stronger in a HU, re raised pot than a multiway raised pot.

soon im probably getting a quick lesson from my friend good2cu and hopefully he can point me in the right direction with this issue.

there are plenty of interesting threads on this floating around 2p2, give them a look.

Say your holding 77, 3bet PF against an agg player in the CO and get called.

    a) Flop comes all highs, say 10 J K. Do you c-bet/probe this flop? What kind of a bet, 1/2-3/4 pot?

    b) Flop comes T T 5. Alternatively, flop come 5 5 T. How do you play OOP here?

    c) How do you play a draw heavy flop, middle straights or flush draw heavy.

I am absolutely awful OOP, wondering what you do to compensate for the crappy position when defending.
If you are one in a million, there's eight just like you in Manhattan.

When we played HU I felt you were 3betting out of the BB way too often and this allowed me to call in position with a wide range and play big pots in position and with equal or even superior cards. E.g I can call a 3bet with hands like 67s and know that I can push you off postflop with a draw/nothing since there's such a big chance you have a hand like Q7s or A3o and can really do nothing if raised.

I am assuming the LP raiser is a solid aggresive opponent and has a PFR of at least 6% and an attempt to steal blinds of over 20% (The higher these 2 stats go then I may loosen requirements to value bet AT/KQ/KJs etc.

    - I think you should only reraise 88+ and AJ+ for value.

    - I would fold small pairs frequently if the LP raiser is a good player. You have no set odds and if you frequently 3bet with 22 it is so hard to play postflop.

    - You should reraise with SC's just often enough to mix up your play.

E.g. If you have been sat at a table for 3-4 orbits, not really had any cards and been seen to fold my BB to steals a couple of times AND the LP raiser is known to raise marginal hands in position (maybe 7%+ PFR at full ring) then 3bet. But use this move liberally.

    Thoughts?
