yeah u played that very passive (not as passive as him though). If you don't bet the flop you have to bet the turn imo, slowplaying it could lead to trouble. If you bet turn it stinks of a steal attempt and he'll likely play back at you.

In answer to your question, no slowplaying aces has never worked in the history of poker...probably.

I recommend Cardrunners for superb poker coaching. It was honestly the single biggest improvement in my game signing up there! Sign-up fee might seem steep, but it pays itself back within weeks.

well define slowplaying. generally if i get 3bet and have aces i might just call and check raise the flop. at a crazy table i might limp utg with aces and raise if anyone raises.

sometimes ive just called preflop with aces anticipating somone to make a squeeze, sometimes ive tried to play a really big pot after the flop.

    it all depends...

it was a bit of a sarcastic answer from me really. playing it like you say is fine, playing it like villain in that hand is destined for failure.

Slowplaying aces by limping in UTG hoping for a raise is fine as long as you don't go broke for 100bb postflop in a 5 way pot without a set.

I'll never try the UTG limp with AA earlier than the 100 blind level. Before that, every god damn pot is a limp fest.

It was early in the game, and with his limp he could have had 6A, or 33, and I didn’t want to risk going out the first level.

I'm always cautious of a checked BB with a low pair on the board, and I would have folded aces to a push on the flop so I figured he might. I was hoping he thought I hit a turn or river card

I won the game so there are definitely no regrets.

    Apparently it does work...

btw, i was aware the bb could push preflop, but i wanted to see how the button would react that's why i didn't push him in the first place.
